Job summary

HI-LEX North America in Michigan seeks a production supervisor to oversee the production line, ensure safety and quality, and deliver on-line targets. You will train associates in machine processes and problem solving, and perform necessary documentation and line adjustments.

The role also involves coordinating material handling, loading/unloading, and ensuring part traceability and FIFO flow. Requires 2–4 years in manufacturing and an associate degree or supervisory experience.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or supervisory experience preferred.
• 2–4 years experience in a manufacturing setting.
• Knowledge of blueprints, SPC, QS, Q1, ISO and TS.

Responsibilities

• Monitors production to ensure requirements are met and finishes product quality is approved.

Job description

Monitors work of associates to ensure production requirements are met. Ensures safety and quality standards are maintained. Performs adjustments to production line. Completes required documentation. Trains associates in machine processes and problem solving.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Ensures quality standards are met & approval of finished product.
• Monitors cleanliness and safety of the worksite.
• Performs product problem solving and corrective actions.
• Works to ensure QMS goals are attained.
• Performs production line adjustments when necessary.
• Completes required forms and paperwork.
• Trains associates in machine processes and problem solving.
• Load, unload trucks and move materials throughout the plant.
• Verify quantities, lot numbers, labels and correctness of parts.
• Notify materials control of any discrepancies in materials received or shipped.
• Arrange and condense stock to maximize usage, maintaining lot and FIFO control.
• Check locations and count for accuracy.
• Use material in proper sequence.
• Oversee Vendor Sort and Customer complaint issues.
• May perform other miscellaneous jobs in shipping and receiving.
• May maintain location of material in racks in PC.
• Will take intermediate level of responsibility to Safety for Employees, Building, Plant and Grounds

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS:

• Serves as a member of various committees as needed.
• Repairs minor machine problems.
• Temporary job fill in for absentees on production lines.
• Follows all safety rules and keeps work area in a clean and orderly condition.

Qualifications

SPECIALIZED TRAINING, SKILLS, ABILITIES, EXPERIENCE:

Use powered industrial truck, hand pallet jack, wrapping machine, scale, computer and printer. Associates degree or previous supervisory experience preferred. 2 – 4 years experience in a manufacturing setting. Ability to work well with others in a team environment. Knowledge of blueprints, SPC, QS, Q1, ISO and TS.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Office environment with noise from computer peripherals such as printers and disk drives.
• Also works in factory environment with noise from manufacturing environment. Exposure to moving equipment, parts and electrical shock. Possible serious injury due to carelessness around equipment.
• Sometimes lifts, carries or moves objects – weighing up to 25 pounds.
