Qualifications

Base Pay $25.00 per hour, plus $1.00 per hour shift differential for 2nd shift

2nd Shift: Monday-Friday, 3pm-11pm

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Process Technician role will be responsible for training Mold Technicians and Mold Setters on “best practices” for all technical activities. Process Technicians will be accountable for communicating all needed improvements to the Group Leader and employees. Process Technician will be positive, problem-solving leaders on the floor at all times. This job will be filled by experience due to the necessary training required on technical skills.

Comprehensively performs as machine and plastic process troubleshooter. Follows established standard work with the duties of installing molds, setting up processes, setting up secondary equipment, producing and submitting for inspection first piece, quality parts. Maintains overall high skill level in the manufacturing process. Report all abnormal spikes in scrap and work with Process Engineer to problem solve to root cause.

  • Comprehensively troubleshoots machines, establishes, and monitors optimum cycle times for machine efficiencies.
  • Submits good quality first piece start-ups and strives to improve the quality and stability of the manufacturing process.
  • Cycle and start up all presses in the least amount of time and achieve a top-quality part with a minimum amount of material loss through reject parts.
  • Strive to keep all operators and machines performing at the highest possible efficiency without rejects.
  • Performs set‑up of secondary equipment, such as installing tooling and fixtures. Maintains secondary equipment location system, cleanliness of equipment, and performs preventive maintenance as required.
  • Pinpoint and determine molding problems and eliminate or correct as fast as possible
  • Provides for proper care of molding and tooling such as cleaning molds, following tagging procedures, trouble shooting of mold issues, and communicating these to the supervisors. Stages molds property and responsible for safe handling overall.
  • Always be safety-minded and eliminate or report all safety problems to supervisor at once. Always put self and all other employees’ safety first, and most important.
  • Provides guidance to maintenance personnel regarding machine and secondary equipment malfunction issues.
  • Perform cycle checks on every shift to ensure optimum cycle time, ensure process sheets are filled out for each process and filed in supervisors’ office.
  • Perform mold set‑ups if necessary.
  • Perform assigned preventive maintenance on all molding equipment.
  • React to molding machine and on board with urgency.
  • Change date wheels in molds monthly.
  • Assist shift supervisor with other duties such as grinding, material changeovers, operating presses, material handler duties, and other duties as assigned. Comply or promote Company
  • Comply with and promote Company EHS policies, procedures along with all industry and OSHA laws and regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned, which could include Mold Setting, Material Handler or even Machine Operator.
Qualifications
  • Good knowledge of injection molding presses
  • Good knowledge of all plastic materials and resins.
  • Must be able to pass Process Technician knowledge assessment.
  • Good human relations – ability to work closely with others.
  • Knowledge of mold design and layout (Mold venting & cooling systems).
  • Able to perform under any given working conditions.
  • Ability to work in a non-temperature-controlled manufacturing environment.
  • Successfully complete LOTO Authorized Training.
  • Successfully complete Crane and Rigging Authorized Training.
  • Successfully complete Forklift Authorized Training.

The employee is frequently required to stand, walk; sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and depth perception.
