Job summary

BD is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to perform preventive maintenance and repairs on injection molding presses and related equipment at our USA NE - Columbus facility. You will troubleshoot, modify control panels, and support new equipment IQs, while maintaining spare parts inventory and contributing to continuous improvement.

Ideal candidates have a HS diploma or GED, with preferred associates in Mechatronics or two years of technical experience.

• Associate’s degree in Mechatronics preferred or two years technical experience in lieu of degree.

Position Summary:

Perform preventative maintenance, repairs troubleshooting, and improvement projects on department injection molding presses and auxiliary equipment in accordance with safety and GMP procedures. Ensures compliance with BD quality systems, policies, procedures and best practices, and all local, state, federal and BD safety regulations, policies and procedures. Regular, punctual attendance is an essential job function. Ability to read and write and converse in English. Willing and able to uphold BD Values.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Perform preventative maintenance, repairs, and improvement projects on department injection molding presses and auxiliary equipment in accordance with safety and GMP procedures.

• Perform troubleshooting and repairs on injection molding presses and auxiliary equipment.

• Perform preventative maintenance (PM's) on injection molding presses and auxiliary equipment.

• Maintain parts inventory

• Support engineering projects-ordering and installation of new equipment, new equipment IQ's.

• Continuous Improvement projects to reduce expenses, improve reliability, and reduce waste.

• Perform troubleshooting, diagnose causes, and repair equipment as required.

• Test electronic circuits to locate defects and understand the use of oscilloscopes, signal generators, amp meters, and voltmeters.

• Install, modify and understand control panel wiring. Work closely with the Controls group to understand and modify PLC programs and maintain PLC ladder logic programs.

• Train operators and assist with machine set‑ups/operation as required.

• Work with central crib to maintain an inventory of spare parts, both fabricated and commercial. Perform troubleshooting and repair of pneumatic and mechanical systems.

• Propose design changes and review with engineer to upgrade equipment, eliminate re-occurring problems, improve product quality, reduce costs, etc.

• Individual will be trained to run, diagnose, and rebuild all key manufacturing equipment.

• Other duties as required to support the needs of the business

Education:

• High School Diploma or GED required

• Associate’s degree in a technical field (Mechatronics) preferred

• In Lieu of associate’s degree, two years technical experience required

Experience:

• None

• Two years’ molding experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Thorough understanding of hydraulic, electric, mechanical and pneumatic systems - Proficient

• Ability to read blueprints and schematics - Proficient

• Computer skills (SAP, Excel, Word preferred) - Basic

• Ability to maintain accurate records - Proficient

• Effective communication with all levels – Proficient

• Personal initiative – Proficient

• Teamwork - Proficient
