Position Overview:
The Wood Moulder Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring the Weinig Powermat 6-Head moulder to produce high-quality moulding and millwork products. This position ensures products meet required dimensions, profiles, and quality standards while maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient work area.
Job Functions:
- Set up and operate Weinig Powermat 6-head moulder
- Read and interpret work orders, production schedules, drawings, measurements,and product specifications.
- Inspect lumber before processing and identify defects that may affect quality or machine operation.
- Verify that profiles, dimensions, finish, and overall quality meet specifications.
- Make machine adjustments to correct quality or production issues.
- Perform routine cleaning, inspections, and preventive maintenance as assigned.
- Label, stack, and organize completed products according to established procedures.
- Minimize material waste and support production and efficiency goals.
- Follow all lockout/tagout, machine-guarding, personal protective equipment, and other safety requirements.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Assist with cross-training and other production duties as needed.
- Follow and complete daily production schedule
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Ability to read tape measure and needs to be proficient with digital calipers.
- Familiar with fractions and decimals
- Woodworking experience is a plus
- Previous experience operating a Weinig Powermat or similar industrial wood moulder strongly preferred.
- Experience in millwork, woodworking, lumber processing, or manufacturing preferred.
- Ability to read work orders, drawings, and product specifications.
- Basic mechanical and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a production team.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to work overtime or adjusted schedules based on production needs.
- Positive, organized, and enthusiastic with ability to influence others.
- Strong work ethic, self-starter, punctual and good collaborator
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to follow safety protocols in the workplace.
- Ability to squat, bend at the waist, and stand for several hours.
- Full-body mobility required to perform production demands of production.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull 75 lbs.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to frequently bend, reach, push, pull, and handle lumber or finished products.
- Ability to work around moving machinery, wood dust, noise, and varying temperatures.
