Job description

MISSION:

To operate a variety of molding machines to produce moderately complex wax pattern and gating components of the highest quality.

To inspect, trim and clean wax parts as required.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  1. Tooling Preparation
  2. Objective: to accurately prepare tooling dies for operation.

    Essential Job Functions:

    1. Assembles, disassembles, prepares and positions tooling dies for operation; changes die inserts as required.
    2. Adds chills and solubles per tech cards.
    3. Removes and/or cleans tooling after operation.
  3. Mold Machine Operation
  4. Objective: To operate moderately complex molding machines accurately and efficiently using technique cards and established setup procedures. To maintain dimensional integrity of product.

    Essential Job Functions:

    1. Sets up, monitors, and controls mold machine functions.
    2. Keeps dies clean during molding operations.
    3. Removes wax parts from die, inspects for defects, and trims.
    4. Cleans wax parts as required.
    5. Completes logs and records; documents any modifications to process.
    6. Meets all production and quality standards.
  5. Safety
  6. Objective: to take responsibility for and demonstrate safe work practices.

    Essential Job Functions:

    1. Adheres to plant and department safety rules.
    2. Safely operates all equipment and tools.
    3. Identifies and reports safety problems.

OTHER (MARGINAL) ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  1. May train less skilled operators as assigned.
  2. Performs other tasks as directed.
  3. May be required to work with hazardous waste.

ESSENTIAL EQUIPMENT, MACHINERY AND/OR TOOLS USED:

  1. Pry bars
  2. Side cutters and/or knives
  3. Mallets
  4. Torches and air nozzles
  5. Air ratchet
  6. Wrenches; allen and crescent
  7. Power drill
  8. Flashlight
  9. Hoist
  10. Dental picks
  11. Mold Machines

TRAINING:

  1. Training is provided on the job.
  2. May be required to complete Hazardous Waste Management Training.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Skill in wax molding operations, as demonstrated by three to six months of competent performance in any wax molding utility, leach tank or core/gate cleaner positions is preferred.
  2. OR

    any equivalent combination of training and work experience.

  3. Ability to read, interpret and follow specifications on Technique Cards, Process Control Procedures and other special instructions.
  4. Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division).
  5. Ability to work alone with limited supervision.
  6. Written language skills required.
  7. Physical ability to perform the essential job functions.
