Job summary

Eaton’s PDCA Power Distribution Control Assembly division in El Paso is seeking a MOL Engineering Technician to design and develop assemblies through technical principles. You will prepare 3-D models, flat files, and drawings, including BOMs for complex components, using Inventor and CAD tools.

You will work with cross-functional teams, check output against quality standards, maintain part numbers, and support procurement and manufacturing information.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
• 3+ years manufacturing experience or technical degree.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and CAD/drafting.
• Experience with electrical diagrams and schematics.
• Willing to work within 50 miles of the El Paso, TX facility.

The MOL Engineering technician is responsible for designing and developing assemblies through the application of diverse technical principles and practices. In this role, you will prepare all necessary mechanical drawings, including, but not limited to, 3-D models of standard parts or bus assemblies with drawings, flat files, and assembly details for complex assemblies and prepare Bills of Materials for assemblies and subassemblies according to the available standard designs. These designs may be of a very innovative and creative nature.• Check work to ensure confirmation to plant Quality Standards.• Working knowledge of standards applicable to assigned products (ANSI, NEMA, UL, CSA, etc.)• Maintain part numbers with up to date information such as rev. number, usage, design changes.• Develop special layout and sketches for engineering tests to determine the acceptance application, operating characteristics, or performance of components of the assemblies.• Prepare necessary information to ensure efficient and timely material procurement, manufacturing information, and installation of assemblies.• Produce and load product structure bills of material into business system computer.• Maintain contact with manufacturing personnel to review and discuss manufacturing information, modifications, adjustments, and progress of work relating to the design and manufacture of equipment.• Provide support to Eaton Lean Systems, Eaton Quality Systems, MESH and Pro Launch to achieve and maintain required levels of certification and performance as needed from the engineering standpoint.• Supporting plant process changes via the Change Management Process.Qualifications:• Requires a high school diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution. ·• Minimum of 3 years’ manufacturing experience OR a degree in a technical discipline• Ability to read engineering drawings (mechanical, electrical and schematics), understanding CAD and drafting principles.• Experience working with Electrical diagrams and schematics.• No relocation is provided for this position, only candidates that currently reside within 50 miles of the El Paso, TX facility will be considered.• Must be legally authorized to work in the US on an ongoing basis without company sponsorship.Preferred Qualifications:• 2-3 years of engineering technician experience in an electrical manufacturing environment.• Ability to read engineering drawings, understanding CAD and drafting principles.• Knowledge of sheet metal, assembly procedures, and fundamentals of electrical theory.• Ability in the use of engineering and productivity tools (CAD software, Office suite and AS400)• Experience working with electrical Switchgears, switchboards, or Motor Control Centers• Associate degree in Engineering or related discipline• Bilingual (English/Spanish)#IND123#LI-KM1#LI-RR2Skills:Position Criteria:• Demonstrated proficiency with Eaton systems and tools, including: AS-400, POM, Inventor, DA (Design Automation), Bid Manager, Enovia & DMM• Knowledge of Eaton’s internal quality policies and standards · Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)• Strong communication, organizational and computer skills.• Effective interpersonal skills to resolve conflict, develop employees and facilitate corrective action while fostering an environment that supports Eaton values & philosophy.• Change agent with strategic focus and executive command.• Ability to work in a highly unstructured and ambiguous environment.• Extensive knowledge and technical expertise in manufacturing processes and engineering methods.
