Forefront Dermatology is seeking a Mohs Tech in Springfield, MO to support accessioning specimens, preparing slide trays, and maintaining lab records. The role collaborates with pathologists and lab staff to ensure accurate processing and reporting of test results.

Qualifications

• Mohs Tech previous experience required; MA or CNA with Mohs experience considered.

Responsibilities

• Follow lab procedures for specimen handling, processing, and reporting.
• Maintain records showing proficiency testing samples.
• Adhere to QC policies and calibrations; document actions.
• Identify problems affecting test performance and correct or inform supervisor.
• Ensure HIPAA/OSHA/CLIA compliance and confidentiality.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

Overview

The Mohs Tech is responsible for accessioning specimens, preparing slide trays, filing of blocks and slides, and assisting with all aspects of lab organization and maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Follow the laboratory’s procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results
• Maintain records that demonstrate the proficiency testing samples are listed in the same manner as patient samples
• Adhere to the laboratory’s quality control policies, document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations, and maintenance performed.
• Follow the laboratory’s established corrective action policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory’s established acceptable levels of performance.
• Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory’s lab director
• Be capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and either must correct the problems or immediately notify clinic supervisor.
• Adherence to compliance and completion of compliance training.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

• Associate’s Degree in a science related field is required; Bachelor’s Degree in a science related field is preferred.
• Previous experience in a lab environment is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Mohs Tech previous experience required. Would consider an MA or CNA who has experience cutting Mohs.

• Must be flexible with hours to meet work flow demands.
• Knowledge of general medical terminology is preferred.
• Ability to type a minimum of 45 wpm with minimal errors is preferred.
• Must possess attention to detail.
• Must possess excellent customer service, communication and organizational skills.
• Must display a friendly, cheerful, tactful and polite demeanor and must be compassionate and caring in dealing with others.
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize appropriately, and work well both individually and as part of a team.
• Ability to use time productively and contribute to high levels of company operational efficiency and effectiveness.
• Ability to understand physician’s instructions/handwriting and know when to seek additional information or clarification.
• Ability to respond positively to constructive criticism and direction from supervisors.
• Must demonstrate professional appearance and manner at all times.
• Must remain compliant with HIPAA, OSHA, and CLIA requirements.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
