Job summary

Watson Clinic in Lakeland, FL is seeking a skilled Histotechnician/Mohs technician to support frozen section preparation and slide processing. The role requires certified Mohs training or substantial Mohs experience and a strong attention to detail in specimen handling.

The position is full-time with a Monday–Thursday schedule, 9:00–16:30 (end time varies with case load). The successful candidate will maintain equipment, document procedures, and work closely with the Mohs surgeon to ensure

• Proof of training in a Mohs certified program or significant Mohs work history with excellent references.
• Training from a Histotechnician or Histotechnologist program with Mohs focus.
• Significant technical expertise and a high level of responsibility handling delicate specimens.

Responsibilities

• Prepares equipment for use in frozen sections in adequate time to receive Mohs specimens.
• Maintains equipment by performing routine and scheduled maintenance and documents completion of duties.
• Follows Mohs surgeon instructions for proper orientation of specimens and maintains accurate records.
• Processes and cuts frozen sections and prepares slides, reviews staining for adequacy, labels and distributes slides to Mohs surgeon promptly.
• Keeps area clean and well stocked; orders supplies and reagents for Mohs caseloads.
• Follows OSHA safety policies, handles sharps and hazardous waste disposal; participates in Quality Improvement documentation.
• Full time - Monday-Thursday 9:00-4:30 (end time depends on cleared cases)

Job description

Essential Functions

Prepares equipment for use in frozen sections in adequate time to receive Mohs specimens.

Maintains equipment by performing routine and scheduled maintenance and documents the completion of these duties.

Follows the instructions from the Mohs surgeon as to the proper orientation of the specimen. Maintains accurate records of all specimens received.

Processes and cuts frozen sections and prepares slides, reviews staining for adequacy, properly labels and distributes slides to Mohs surgeon within a reasonable time frame.

Keeps area clean and well stocked. Orders and maintains an adequate amount of supplies and reagents to accommodate the Mohs caseloads.

Follows all OSHA safety policies, including the handling of sharps and the proper disposal of hazardous waste. Participates in a Quality Improvement program by documentation of corrective measures and process improvements.

Full time- Monday-Thursday 9:00-4:30 (end time depends on cleared cases)

Requirements
