Job summary

Elkhorn Dermatology Clinic in Elkhorn, NE, is seeking a licensed histology professional to handle specimens, perform embedding and staining, and prepare slides for microscopic evaluation by the surgeon. You will follow established policies and procedures to ensure quality and timely results.

This role requires completing a Mohs Training Program and BLS certification, adherence to OSHA/CLIA/HIPAA regulations, and participation in quality control and proficiency testing as part of ongoing

Qualifications

  • Completion of Mohs Training Program is required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association is required.

Responsibilities

  • Specimen handling and processing for microscopic evaluation by the surgeon following policies and procedures.
  • Prepare and evaluate stains, reagents and solutions for slide preparation.
  • Perform quality control and preventive maintenance to ensure instruments and procedures meet standards.
  • Assist with quality assurance and proficiency testing.
  • Maintain accurate records for regulatory compliance and complete yearly competency testing.

PRN – As needed. Clinic schedule: Monday-Friday. No weekends required.

Job Summary and Responsibilities
  • Specimen handling and processing including gross, embed, cut, stain and cover slide specimens for microscopic evaluation by the surgeon following established policies and procedures.
  • Prepare and evaluate stains, reagents and solutions necessary for slide preparation following established policies and procedures.
  • Perform quality control and preventive maintenance procedures to assure instruments, stains and procedures are within acceptable standards, taking corrective action if necessary and notifying the lab director/licensed healthcare practitioner.
  • Assist with quality assurance and proficiency testing following established policies and procedures.
  • Assist regulatory compliance by maintaining accurate records.
  • Complete yearly competency testing.
  • Adhere to OSHA, CLIA and HIPPA regulations.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Completion of Mohs Training Program required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association required.
Pay Range

$27.36 - $40.70 per hour
