Job summary

Gaylor Electric, Inc. seeks a Design Engineer - Modular to transform virtual designs into fabrication-ready solutions.

You will lead preconstruction design, BIM coordination, and interdisciplinary collaboration to ensure constructable, code-compliant electrical room skid concepts. Responsibilities include developing 3D models in Revit, coordinating with architects, engineers, and vendors, and driving continuous improvement in modular design processes.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in a VDC, design engineering, or related role.
• Strong proficiency in Revit and BIM coordination.
• Experience with Autodesk tools (Revit, Navisworks, BIM 360, Forma).
• Ability to develop and interpret electrical drawings and panel schedules.
• Understanding of NEC, IBC, IECC and applicable life-safety codes.

Responsibilities

• Lead projects through preconstruction design, engineering, and coordination phases.
• Develop and review design, coordination, and installation drawings aligned with Best Practices.
• Produce fabrication-ready documentation, including layouts and diagrams.
• Perform electrical calculations (load, voltage drop, short circuit, lighting).
• Ensure designs are constructable and code-compliant with project specs.
• Operate in BIM coordination meetings with architects, engineers, and trade partners.
• Support modular skid design and manufacturing integration with production teams.
• Mentor design team members and drive standardization of workflows.
