Job summary

CareerNation is seeking a Qualified Moderate Sedation RN for a 6-week outpatient ophthalmology assignment in Round Rock, TX. The position offers a consistent Mon/Tue daytime schedule (6:00 AM–2:00 PM) with 2 × 8-hour shifts weekly and a pay rate of $48–$52 per hour.

The RN will support ophthalmology procedures requiring moderate/IV sedation, monitor patients during sedation, and collaborate with the surgical team. Active Texas RN license and ACLS/BLS are required.

Qualifications

• Active Texas RN license is required.
• Current BLS certification.
• Current ACLS certification.
• Minimum 1 year RN experience in relevant setting.
• Recent moderate or IV sedation experience.
• Comfort with narcotic sedation monitoring.
• Ophthalmology procedural experience preferred.
• Ability to work Mondays and Tuesdays.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care during ophthalmology procedures using moderate/IV sedation.
• Complete pre-procedure assessments and verify patient readiness.
• Establish and maintain IV access as needed.
• Administer moderate sedation medications per orders and protocols.
• Monitor oxygenation, ventilation, circulation, vital signs, and consciousness.
• Recognize and respond to changes in patient condition promptly.
• Maintain patient safety during sedation and recovery.
• Document procedures and medications accurately.
• Provide post-procedure monitoring and discharge readiness assessment.
• Collaborate with physicians and surgical team throughout procedures.

This is an excellent opportunity for an RN looking for a predictable, part-time contract with a consistent Monday/Tuesday daytime schedule.

The RN will primarily support ophthalmology procedures requiring moderate/IV sedation and should be comfortable independently monitoring patients receiving narcotic sedation.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care during ophthalmology procedures utilizing moderate/IV sedation
• Complete pre-procedure assessments and verify patient readiness
• Establish and maintain IV access as applicable
• Administer moderate sedation medications according to provider orders and facility protocols
• Continuously monitor oxygenation, ventilation, circulation, vital signs, and level of consciousness
• Recognize and respond promptly to changes in patient condition
• Maintain patient safety throughout sedation and recovery
• Complete accurate procedural and medication documentation
• Provide post-procedure monitoring and assess readiness for discharge
• Collaborate with physicians and the surgical team throughout procedures

Requirements

• Active Texas RN license
• Current BLS
• Current ACLS
• Minimum 1 year of applicable RN experience
• Recent moderate/conscious/IV sedation experience
• Comfortable administering and monitoring narcotic sedation
• Ophthalmology procedural experience strongly preferred
• Ability to work Mondays and Tuesdays
