Systems Planning and Analysis, Inc. (SPA) seeks a Modeling & Simulation Configuration Architect to support USCG M&S tools.

This on-site role in Alexandria, VA involves developing software with open-source tools and simulations, coordinating with clients, and overseeing DT&E of model code for each release. The successful candidate will design and manage the M&S environment, ensure interoperability and performance, and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or related field.
• 10+ years of relevant experience in modeling & simulation.
• Experience with M&S tools such as STORM, SWIFT, NSS, or AFSIM.
• Ability to design and manage the architecture of M&S environments.

The Joint, Office of the Secretary of Defense, Interagency Division (JOID) provides expert support services to a range of customers spanning across the Department of Defense, Federal Civilian, and international markets. JOID provides a diverse portfolio of analytical and programmatic capabilities to help our customers make informed decisions on their most challenging issues.

The Critical Infrastructure Group (CIG) within JOID provides technical, programmatic and analytical support to customers with missions in national security to include the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Health and Human Services (HHS), and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The Group brings technical and operational expertise in fields of countering weapons of mass destruction, critical infrastructure protection, emergency response, nuclear non-proliferation, weapons deployment programs, and transportation safety. In addition to management and advisory services, CIG staff collaborate closely with our clients to provide high-quality modeling, simulation, software, and analytical products to meet the most demanding government standards and timelines.

We have an immediate need for a Modeling & Simulation (M&S) Configuration Architect to to assist with the United States Coast Guard (USCG) M&S tools. The primary place of performance will be at SPA Headquarters in Alexandria, VA with regular visits to customer sites in VA and DC.

Responsibilities

The Sr. M&S Configuration Architect will apply advanced analytical, modeling, and simulation skills to solve complex warfighting problems in support of the USCG. This role develops software using open-source tools and computer-based simulations to meet design requirements and support engagement- and mission-level analyses, wargames, exercises, and experiments across a range of defense problem sets. Will be responsible for designing and managing the technical architecture of the modeling and simulation environment. Coordinate with the client and key stakeholders to identify and prioritize model requirements. Ensure the interoperability, scalability, and performance of the systems and models used in the project, and oversee configuration management to maintain consistency and control over system components. Responsible for joint campaign model development and maintenance, and for overseeing the Developmental Test and Evaluation (DT&E) of the chosen model’s code for each interim/version release.

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or equivalent.
• 10+ years of relevant experience.
• Modeling & Simulation experience with N81, USCG, or other National Defense or Homeland Security organization.
• Experience with one or more of the following tools: STORM, SWIFT, NSS, or AFSIM.
• Experience designing and managing the technical architecture of the modeling and simulation environment.
• Experience overseeing configuration management to maintain consistency and control over system components.
• Experience overseeing the Developmental Test and Evaluation (DT&E) of the chosen model’s code for each interim/version release.
• Proven ability to communicate effectively, both in written and verbal formats, with diverse stakeholders.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
• Active Secret clearance; elibigible for TS/SCI.
• Able to work fully onsite based on client needs.
