Job summary

Capstone Research Corporation in Huntsville, AL is expanding its Modeling and Simulation (MandS) team. We seek mid- to senior-level developers to design, integrate, and test high-fidelity IAMD simulations that evaluate end-to-end mission effectiveness across varied conditions.

You will work on real-time and constructive simulation frameworks, develop automated analysis tools, and contribute to data pipelines for post-run analysis.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering or related STEM field.
• 5–10+ years of applied engineering experience in modeling, simulation, and analytical tool development.
• Proficient in C, C++, Python, MATLAB/Simulink or similar languages.
• Experience integrating models into larger simulation architectures, data exchange, timing, and post-run analysis pipelines.
• Active Secret Clearance or eligibility to obtain Secret Clearance.
• Familiarity with DoD simulation frameworks such as AFSIM, FSI, DIS, and containerization (Docker/Podman) is a plus.

Responsibilities

We are seeking

Modeling and Simulation (MandS) Software Developers in our Huntsville, AL. office, with a background in developing, integrating and testing weapon system simulations to join our rapidly growing Army Group. We have vacancies for mid-and senior-level developers ready to make an impact. In this role you will develop, integrate, and execute complex simulations of Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) components to evaluate end-to-end mission effectiveness under varied conditions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, code, and test high-fidelity mathematical models and simulations of IAMD components (e.g., sensors, interceptors, and threat kinematics).
• Integrate disparate system models into both real-time (e.g., Hardware-in-the-Loop/Software-in-the-Loop) and non-real-time (constructive) simulation frameworks.
• Develop automated analysis tools and scripts to parse large simulation datasets, enabling sensitivity analysis, trade-space exploration, and the quantification of mission effectiveness.
• Evaluate threat kinematics, sensor-shooter assignments, weapon flyouts, and overall lethality to quantify end-to-end performance across complex IAMD architectures.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering or related STEM field.
• 5 to 10+ years of applied engineering experience, with a heavy focus on modeling, simulation, and analytical tool development.
• Strong programming skills are required to build and integrate engineering simulations (e.g., C, C++, Python, MATLAB/Simulink, or similar languages).
• Integration Expertise: Proven ability to integrate models into larger simulation architectures, managing data exchange, simulation timing, and data collection pipelines for post-run analysis.
• Engagement Chains: Experience analyzing architectures for "sensor-to-shooter" loops and fire control closures
• Active Secret Clearance or eligibility to obtain Secret Clearance

Additional Desired Skills

• Experience with Docker, Podman, or similar for containerizing MandS applications
• Experience with Army IAMD systems or Missile Defense Agency (MDA) architectures and platforms. Familiarity with the Joint Track Management Capability Bridge
• Experience with common DoD simulation frameworks such as AFSIM, FSI, DIS, or other environments.
• Familiarity with translating operational scenarios or "kill webs" into quantitative simulation environments.
• Experience in Python, Java, Matlab, Gitlab, and/or Linux.
