Job Summary

General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), an affiliate of General Atomics, is a world leader in proven, reliable remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars, as well as advanced high-resolution surveillance systems.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Modeling and Simulation Manager to join the Poway Engineering team. The successful candidate will serve as the manager for all Survivability Modeling and Simulation work for GA-ASI. In this role, the candidate will be responsible for working with the Sr. Manger of Survivability to execute executive strategy, setting tasking for the various teams under their leadership, and working with their direct reports to ensure cost, schedule and technical compliance.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Act as Lead technical authority for aircraft RCS, IR, acoustic and visual signature control. Serve as key reviewer for all data products produced by subordinate teams influencing the development of survivability design solutions.
  • Work cross functionally within the GA-ASI Survivability team and across other functional engineering groups (ie. Systems Engineering, Mission Effectiveness Engineering, Vehicle Engineering, Mission Systems, T&E, O&S) to develop technical solutions for numerous programs.
  • Guide the development of various platform designs to achieve the required survivability performance across the EM spectrum.
  • Support the development and execution of new start and low TRL (1-3) design efforts. Provide technical input on classified proposal efforts and guide programs upon award.
  • Build a staff of qualified survivability designers and analysts through active mentoring, formal training and other professional development techniques:
  • Guide and advise on the processing of test data generated to support objectives of design validation
  • Guide the development of various software codes and tools to maximize existing processing power and minimize iteration time while ensuring data integrity.
  • Establish processes for generating, controlling and reviewing survivability simulations and designs to ensure quality of output is aligned with program requirements.
  • Generate process documentation to ensure the use of codes and design tools remain within the boundaries of standard work.
  • Guide subordinate teams on the design of measurement and test articles (fixtures, pole models, etc) for validation of survivable designs.
  • Establish relationships with government and 3rd party providers of code and software tools to ensure access to state-of-the-art capabilities.
  • Work with Sr. Manager of Survivability to set technical direction and funding requests for capital purchases, IRAD projects and other opportunities.
  • Support Engineering teams spread across multiple sites including but not limited to, Poway, Los Angeles, Adelanto, CA locations, Denver, CO, and Dayton OH.
  • Ensure compliance, reporting, and safety standards are maintained. Work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures.
  • Observe all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.

Job Qualifications
  • Typically requires a Bachelors, Masters or PhD in engineering or a related technical field as well as eleven or more years of progressively complex engineering experience. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education.
  • Understanding of a wide range of technical theories and concepts related to electromagnetics, RF, and/or IR integration of subsystems.
  • Strong written and oral communications skills
  • Strong team player with demonstrated leadership qualities The successful candidate will work under general supervision, following established procedures.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Security Clearance is required.
  • Must possess the ability to contribute to the development of new concepts and techniques.

Job Type: Full-Time Salary

Salary range: 125,810 - 229,670
