Job summary

Torch Technologies in Huntsville, AL seeks a modeling and simulation specialist to develop high-fidelity models and run extensive analyses. You will validate results against experimental data and collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to integrate models into larger system architectures.

The role requires a technical degree, 2+ years in defense/aerospace simulations, and proficiency in MATLAB, C++, and Python, with Linux familiarity and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• US citizenship is required for this security clearance roles.
• Degree in a technical field (aerospace/EE/ME/CS) at least a bachelor's level.
• 2+ years in modeling and simulation within defense or aerospace.
• Familiar with six degrees of freedom, Monte-Carlo methods, and V&V.
• Experience with MATLAB, C++, Python; Linux familiarity preferred.
• Strong communication and independent work capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Execute simulation runs, analyze results, identify trends and insights.
• Provide preflight analysis to reduce risk and support on-site testing.
• Design and implement high-fidelity models and simulations.
• Validate models against real-world data and experiments.
• Document models, methods, and analyses clearly.

Job Responsibilities

• Execute simulation runs, analyze results, identify trends, and provide insights to inform system design and performance optimization.


• Provide preflight analysis to reduce risk, on-site test support to evaluate performance, and postflight analysis to validate simulation models.


• Design, develop, and implement high-fidelity models and simulations using various software tools and programming languages (e.g., MATLAB, Python, C++).


• Validate and verify models and simulations against real-world data and experimental results, ensuring accuracy and reliability.


• Develop and maintain documentation for models, simulations, and analysis methodologies.


• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including software engineers, systems engineers, and subject matter experts, to integrate models into larger system architectures.


• Present technical findings and recommendations to internal teams and external stakeholders.

Job Qualifications

• US Citizenship.


• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.


• 2+ years of experience in modeling and simulation, preferably within the defense or aerospace industry.


• Knowledge of six degrees of freedom simulations, Monte-Carlo techniques, verification/validation of models, tactical missile sensors, control systems, aerodynamics, propulsion systems, test planning and execution, and configuration management.


• Experience with MATLAB, C++, Python, or other programming languages.


• Familiarity with Linux is preferred.


• Experience with data analysis and visualization tools.


• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.


• Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.


• Strong written and verbal communication skills.


• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance.
