Job summary

KBR in Chantilly, VA is seeking a Modeling and Simulation Engineer with in-depth knowledge of satellite relevancy to DoD and the IC. You will support mission-critical intelligence gathering from overhead systems and help guide acquisition and execution of next-generation SIGINT systems.

The role acts as a technical advisor, performing analysis on space systems, coordinating architecture trades, and delivering documented findings to government stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph required.
  • Bachelor's degree; Master's degree preferred.
  • 5+ years IC experience.
  • Detailed understanding of government satellite systems.
  • Insight into SIGINT mission fundamentals and analysis of space systems.
  • Knowledge of satellite relevance to DoD/IC missions.
  • Solid understanding of Signals Intelligence satellite systems and architectures.
  • Experience in Matlab, Python or similar.

Responsibilities

  • Supports mission analysis assessments for the Program Office.
  • Coordinates architecture impacts, trades, and performance assessments with Enterprise and Program Office.
  • Manages development, test, and validation of assessment methodologies and tools (STK, SOAP, MATLAB, etc.).
  • Performs analysis of space systems, metrics, timelines, and models.
  • Documents issues impacting spacecraft and ground systems via objective analysis.
  • Provides support to verification/validation of algorithms including tuning, testing, and integration planning.
  • Supports orbital analysis, including threats assessments and trades.
  • Communicates technical findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Interfaces with customers and directors to drive resolution plans for complex challenges.
  • Generates and maintains technical documentation and reports.

Title

Modeling and Simulation Engineer KBR is seeking a Modeling And Simulation Engineer with in-depth knowledge of satellite relevancy to Department of Defense and the Intelligence Community unique missions to be part of our team supporting our customer in Chantilly, VA that delivers mission-critical capabilities directly supporting intelligence-gathering missions from overhead systems. We lead architectural assessments and report recommendations to senior US Government personnel guiding acquisition and execution of next-generation SIGINT systems needs for the next 10-20 years. These systems deliver collected data distributed to US Government Intelligence Community and Military users.

The Modeling And Simulation Engineer serves as a technical advisor to support the Government with performing analysis on complex space systems needs for the intelligence and DoD communities. The SIGINT leadership team embraces innovation in a relentless effort to meet intelligence needs and shorten the timelines to provide actionable critical information to US Government decision-makers. This is a position of trust advising the US Government and supporting critical missions in SIGINT, COMINT, FISINT, and ELINT.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supports mission analysis assessments and studies for the Program Office
  • Coordinates assessments of architecture impacts, architecture trades, and architecture performance assessments with the Enterprise and Program Office
  • Manages development, test, and validation of systems assessment methodologies and tools such as STK, SOAP, MATLAB, and potentially organically developed software
  • Performs analysis of space systems, performance metrics, timelines, and models
  • Identifies and documents issues impacting both spacecraft and ground systems through objective analysis and processes
  • Provides pre- and post-algorithm implementation and process analysis and modeling
  • Provides support to verification and validation of algorithms including tuning, testing, and integration planning
  • Supports orbital analysis, including threats assessments/impacts, trades, and analyses
  • Communicates technical findings to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Interfaces with customers, directorate/office representatives, and across system engineering groups to drive resolution plans and strategies for complex technical challenges
  • Generates and maintain technical documentation and reports
Basic Compensation

$121,000 - $151,000 USD annually The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.

  • Travel Requirements: Up to 20% CONUS travel may be required
  • Working Hours: Standard
Required Qualifications
