Job summary

ICI Services Corporation in Washington, DC is seeking a Model-Based Systems Engineer IV to grow with the team. This role focuses on applying MBSE to support requirements, design, analysis, verification, and validation across the acquisition lifecycle.

The ideal candidate has extensive Navy shipbuilding experience, proficiency in SysML/UML, and hands-on work with MBSE tools such as Cameo or Sparx. A PE license is preferred and DoD clearance eligibility is required.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in Navy shipbuilding and defense systems.
• Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) principles.
• Knowledge of SysML or UML.
• Experience with cross-platform MBSE/digital environments (e.g., MagicDraw/Cameo, Sparx EA, RPR, System Architect).
• SysML in complex environments; Cameo experience preferred.
• DoDAF/UAF knowledge.
• Unmanned systems architecture experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Apply modeling to support requirements, design, analysis, verification, and validation across acquisition lifecycle phases.
• Provide MBSE analysis including open architecture model development and documentation to meet regulatory requirements.
• Evaluate and compare alternative architectures using qualitative and quantitative techniques.
• Use models to support system-of-systems trade studies and architecture decisions.
• Support development and review of models, documents, and review boards.
• Provide analytic and engineering services using MBSE to develop end-to-end engineering model environments.
• Support systems integration and requirements development within a multidisciplinary engineering team.

Model-Based Systems Engineer IV - Position Description

Position/Job Description

• Apply modeling to support a systems or SoS' requirements, design, analysis, verification, and validation activities throughout the acquisition lifecycle phases.
• Provide Model-Based System Engineering (MBSE) analysis to include open architecture model development and assist in the development of program information and documentation to identify technical parameters and thresholds as they pertain to each program relative to applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.
• Evaluate and compare alternative architectures using qualitative and quantitative techniques.
• Use developed and existing models to support development and tradeoffs in system-of-system architectures.
• Use or identify engineering-level models to support trade studies of systems, such as sensors, payload or non-payload, combat systems, electro-optic systems and radar.
• Support the development and/or review of models, documents and review boards.
• Provide analytic and engineering services to assist in writing draft technical acquisition documentation, independent assessment of sensor and weapon performance, test planning/evaluation, CONOPS development/evaluation, system and architecture trade studies and end-to-end effectiveness assessments.
• Provide technical and software engineering services using an MBSE approach to assist the government in developing an end-to-end / integrated engineering model environment that will support design, development, acquisition and sustainment of systems.
• Support systems integration and requirements development efforts within a multidisciplinary team of engineers.

Experience Requirements

• 10 Years of experience in Navy Shipbuilding and Defense Systems.
• Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering principles
• Knowledge of the Systems Modeling Language (SysML) or Unified Modeling Language (UML)
• Experience with cross-platform collaborative MBSE/digital environments or equivalent (e.g., MagicDraw/Cameo Systems Modeler, Sparx System Enterprise Architect, Rational Rhapsody, System Architect, etc.), which provide tools to design, track, visualize, and analyze all aspects of systems in standard- compliant models and diagrams.
• Use of SysML in a complex environment
• Experience with Cameo Systems Modeler preferred
• Knowledge of the Department of Defense Architecture Framework/Unified Architecture Framework (DoDAF/UAF)
• Experience with unmanned systems architecture preferred
• 10+ years' experience in US Navy Fleet systems engineering

Educational & Certification Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, naval architecture or related field
• An active Professional Engineer License is preferred.
