Job summary

Kitty Hawk Technologies, a growing service and technology innovator, is seeking a talented and motivated Model Based Systems Engineer to join our team in the Dahlgren, Virginia area. This role supports DoD programs and national security initiatives with MBSE using Cameo and SysML.

Responsibilities include developing system architectures with SysML, managing requirements and traceability, and coordinating with Missile Engineers and Program Managers.

Qualifications

• Five or more years of MBSE experience, specifically Cameo System Modeler.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or related technical discipline.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret DoD clearance; U.S. Citizenship required.
• Knowledge of UML, SysML and DoDAF/UAF frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Develop system architectures using SysML and Cameo Systems Modeler.
• Perform MBSE efforts in Cameo for requirements, documentation, and traceability.
• Document system architecture and requirements with Cameo System Modeler.
• Collaborate with PM and missile engineers to derive and track requirements.
• Verify and validate requirements with developers and engineers.
• Track requirements, change requests, configurations, risks, and mitigations.
• Follow project SysML style guidance and participate in Technical Exchange Meetings.
• Prepare technical presentations, briefs, and papers on model development.
• Work independently in a team environment and on-site when required.

Kitty Hawk Technologies is currently seeking a Model Based Systems Engineer with five (5) or more years of experience Cameo System Modeler in support of Engineering Services to work in the Dahlgren, Virginia area.

Responsibilities:

• Works as part of a team to support an RDTE project in developing system architectures using the SysML language and Cameo Systems Modeler toolset
• Perform MBSE efforts in Cameo (requirements development, documentation, architecture documentation, traceability, SysML and Parametric representations, etc.) for an anti-ship cruise missile test target and associated Modeling and Simulation (M&S) efforts
• Document system architecture and requirements using Cameo System Modeler
• Work with Program Manager and Missile Engineers to develop, derive, and track requirements
• Work with developers and missile engineers to develop appropriate verification and validation of requirements
• Work with program manager and technical leads to track requirements, change requests, configuration control changes, and risks and mitigation plans
• Adheres to existing project SysML style guidance
• Participates in recurring Technical Exchange Meetings to align model development with project milestones and requirements
• Prepares technical presentations, briefings, and papers to address model development status.
• Works independently with minimal supervision/oversight in a team environment
• Must be committed to working on-site at the Kitty Hawk office or government customer facility. Flexible work arrangement may be available as dictated by customer support requirements

Required Education & Qualifications:

• Five (5) or more years of experience in model-based systems engineering (MBSE), specifically Cameo System Modeler
• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering, scientific, or related technical discipline
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret DoD clearance – U.S. Citizenship is required
• Experience with industry-standard architecture and modeling languages (UML, SysML) and frameworks (DoDAF, UAF)
• Knowledge in an industry standard architecture tool (e.g., Cameo Systems Modeler, Cameo Enterprise Architect)
• Effective oral and written communication skills. Proficient with MS Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Must be a quick learner who adapts easily to frequently changing requirements and thrives in an exciting environment

Desired Skills:

• Experience with Teamwork Cloud
• Experience with US Navy, Joint, and/or DoD engineering efforts
• Experience of integrating technologies into operational- level architectures
• Experience working alongside operational forces
• Exercise independent judgment and work autonomously with minimal supervision
• Strong written and oral communication skills, the ability and willingness to multi-task, and capable of professionally addressing client questions and issues
