Responsibilities

  • Perform insertion, maintenance, and management of vascular access devices per protocols.
  • Conduct thorough patient assessments to select appropriate access device.
  • Educate patients and families on procedures, care and device maintenance.
  • Collaborate with physicians, RNs and specialists for comprehensive care.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of vascular access procedures.
  • Identify and manage complications such as infection or thrombosis.

The ideal candidate will have advanced knowledge of vascular access techniques, patient care protocols, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while delivering high-quality care.

Experience Required
Key Responsibilities:

  • Vascular Access Procedures: Perform insertion, maintenance, and management of vascular access devices (e.g., ultrasound guided peripheral IVs, PICC lines, and midlines) following evidence-based practice protocols.
  • Patient Assessment: Conduct thorough patient assessments to determine the most appropriate vascular access device based on individual needs and medical conditions.
  • Patient Education: Provide patients and families with information regarding vascular access procedures, device care, and maintenance, ensuring patient understanding and comfort.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with multidisciplinary teams (e.g., physicians, other nurses, and specialists) to ensure comprehensive patient care and optimal vascular access management.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely documentation of vascular access procedures.
  • Troubleshooting and Complications Management: Identify and address potential complications such as infection, thrombosis, and occlusions. Provide care and interventions as necessary.
Qualifications:
  • Licensure: Current, active RN license in Texas.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1.5-2 years of current experience as vascular access Registered Nurse
  • Skills:
    • Proficiency in vascular access devices and procedures (e.g., PICC, midlines, peripheral IVs, etc.).
    • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
    • Ability to manage and troubleshoot complications associated with vascular access devices.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to educate and support patients and families.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to stand, walk, and perform manual dexterity tasks for extended periods. Ability to lift and position patients as necessary.
  • Travel
    • Must be willing to travel for procedures.
