Job summary

Avis Budget Group is hiring an experienced automotive technician to repair and diagnose medium-duty and heavy-duty vehicles, including vans in the Budget Truck fleet. You will perform preventive maintenance, electrical diagnostics, and warranty repairs, with on-site and mobile responsibilities.

The role emphasizes safety, quality repairs, and quick customer-ready turnaround across a diverse fleet, requiring ASE certification, a valid CDL/driver's license, and the ability to work outdoors in

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience performing mechanical repairs and diagnostics on medium-duty or heavy-duty equipment
• At least 1 ASE certification, with the ability to obtain 2 additional ASE certifications within the first year
• Working knowledge across ASE areas including Engine Repair, Drivetrain/Axles, Suspension/Steering, Brakes, Electrical, Heating/Air Conditioning, Engine Performance, and Light Vehicle/Diesel
• Valid Driver's License Class A, B, or C
• Must be able to obtain DOT medical clearance
• Must have a complete set of tools for automotive and diesel repair
• Basic computer skills, including typing and data entry
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, stand, bend, reach, walk, sit and kneel frequently, and drive Budget Truck vehicles in all weather conditions
• Must be at least 21 years of age and legally authorized to work in the United States

Responsibilities

• Perform standard and complex mechanical repairs on a fleet of cargo vans and box trucks with minimal technical supervision
• Include preventive maintenance, oil and fluid services, tire repairs, brake and suspension work, electrical diagnostics, and warranty-related repairs based on your skill level
• This role includes mobile repair responsibilities and may require travel to the vehicle’s location to diagnose and resolve problems quickly
• May be required to drive Budget Trucks on public roads as part of repair or transport needs
• Work on newer vehicles across multiple manufacturers, applying diesel and medium-duty expertise to reduce downtime and improve reliability

What You'll Do:

This role includes mobile repair responsibilities. When a truck or van experiences an issue, you may travel to the vehicle’s location to diagnose and resolve the problem efficiently, helping get the customer back on the road as quickly as possible. You may also be required to drive Budget Trucks on public roads as part of repair or transport needs.

You will work on newer vehicles across multiple manufacturers, applying your diesel and medium-duty expertise to reduce downtime, improve reliability, and support a positive customer experience.

What We're Looking For:

• Valid Driver's License Class A, B, or C
• Minimum of 2 years of experience performing mechanical repairs and diagnostics on medium-duty or heavy-duty equipment
• At least 1 ASE certification, with the ability to obtain 2 additional ASE certifications within the first year
• Working knowledge across ASE areas including, but not limited to: Engine Repair, Drivetrain/Axles, Suspension/Steering, Brakes, Electrical, Heating/Air Conditioning, Engine Performance, and Light Vehicle/Diesel
• Must be able to obtain DOT medical clearance
• Comfortable working outdoors and in a mechanical shop environment with moderate noise levels
• Must have a complete set of tools required for automotive and diesel repair
• Basic computer skills, including typing and data entry
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, continuously stand, bend, reach, walk, sit and kneel frequently, enter, exit and drive Budget Truck vehicles in all weather conditions
• Must be at least 21 years of age and legally authorized to work in the United States
• This position requires regular, on-site presence and cannot be performed remotely
• Previous Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) experience is preferred and considered a strong advantage
