J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc. is seeking a Mobile Technician I in Dallas, TX to assist with preventive maintenance and minor repairs on trailers, under supervision.

The role requires outdoor work and flexibility to cover various shifts, including nights and weekends. A clean driving record and basic tools are expected, with opportunities for forklift, welding, and DOT/FHWA inspection certifications. The position emphasizes safety, efficient diagnostics, and accurate documentation.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver's license and clean MVR.
• Own basic tools or willing to purchase through toolbox program.
• Willingness to work outdoors and across varied shifts including nights/weekends.
• High school diploma or GED required; advanced certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic preventive maintenance (tires, brakes, electrical diagnostics, minor structural repairs).
• Follow safety requirements at customer sites or rail yards.
• Operate service truck professionally and keep it stocked and clean.
• Complete work orders and written materials per procedures.
• Document damage to equipment for subrogation purposes.
• Demonstrate basic use of cutting torch and welding equipment for minor repairs.
• Seal holes in trailer sides/roofs to ensure water tightness.
• Perform annual AA Trailer and FHWA Brake Inspections under supervision.

Job Title: Mobile Technician I Department: Maintenance Country: United States of America State/Province: Texas City: Dallas Full/Part Time: Full time

Key Responsibilities

• With guidance, perform basic preventive maintenance tasks to include, but not limited to, tire replacements/flat repairs, brake adjustments/services/replacements, electrical diagnostics, basic structural repairs on trailer chassis, sub-frames, etc
• Follow all safety requirements while at a customer or rail yard
• Operate assigned service truck in a professional manner and according to company requirements; keep unit clean and well stocked
• Accurately complete work orders and other written materials according to established procedures
• Properly document damage to company equipment to allow subrogation of repair costs
• Understand and demonstrate the basic use of a cutting torch and welding equipment; perform minor repairs on chassis, frames, brackets, etc
• Patch holes in trailer/container side panels and roofs ensuring all holes are sealed and water tight
• Perform annual AA Trailer and FHWA Brake Inspections under supervision of a certified technician as required

Minimum Qualifications

• 18 years of age for equipment up to 10,000lbs or 21 years of age for equipment over 10,000 lbs AND Demonstration of the following skills and abilities through education, certifications, military, or other experiences
• Possess a clean motor vehicle record per J.B. Hunt guidelines
• Able to supply your own basic tools or purchase through our toolbox purchase program
• Willingness to work outdoors in the elements
• Able to work across multiple shifts, including nights and/or weekends, if needed

Preferred Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent with up to 1 year of experience in semi-tractor or semi-trailer maintenance and repair, or equivalent combination of education and experience, or military equivalent
• At least 1 year of experience in DOT inspections, FHWA inspections, and air brakes
• Welding certification
• Forklift certification and experience
• EPA section 608 certification and refrigeration license
• Ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas through various mediums
• Ability to manage multiple priorities
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Proficient computer skills and/or comfortable working with a computer, including Microsoft Office suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
• Ability to use time and resources efficiently and effectively
• Ability to fulfill physical requirements (lift/move appliance up to 50 pounds)
• Ability to wear appropriate work attire (protective gear/PPE)

Sign-on bonus may be available for a limited time! This position is not eligible for employment-based sponsorship.

Compensation

Compensation: Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include skills, education, experience, geography, and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position may be eligible for annual bonus and incentives based on profitability or volumes in accordance with the terms of the Company’s bonus and incentive plans, as applicable and in effect from time to time.
