Job summary

FleetPride is seeking a Mobile Technician III to perform preventative maintenance and advanced diagnostics on Class 7 & 8 trucks and trailers. You will train other technicians, work in the shop between service calls, and may participate in after-hours on-call rotation as needed.

The role requires extensive hands-on repair skills, including brakes, engines, electrical, and suspension systems, with a strong emphasis on safety and quality workmanship.

Qualifications

• 7+ years experience repairing Class 7 & 8 trucks and trailers.
• Diagnostic experience.
• Welding experience.
• Air Brake Certification is a plus.
• Valid driver’s license required, CDL preferred.

Responsibilities

• Inspect vehicles to determine damage or malfunctions.
• Provide preventative maintenance solutions to customers.
• Train new technicians on company repair procedures.
• Inspect orders for completion and quality before delivery.
• Perform routine maintenance: oil changes, lubrication and filter replacements.
• Repair, relining, replacing and adjusting brakes (air, hydraulic, electric).
• Test drive vehicles and test components with proper equipment.
• Troubleshoot suspension, electrical, exhaust, steering, and HVAC systems.
• Overhaul and repair diesel/gas engines.
• Work in shop between service calls and may participate in on-call rotation.

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

The Mobile Technician III is expected to have mastered all aspects of Preventative Maintenance on all vehicle systems with the ability to train and develop other Technicians. Will perform all major and advanced adjustments, repairs, and component replacements. Perform advanced diagnostic operations in order to successfully diagnose vehicle system failures and suggest accurate system repairs. This technician will also work in the shop between service calls. They may also be asked to participate in the after-hour on-call rotation for the location, if needed.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Examine vehicles to determine the extent of damage or malfunction(s). Provide customers with preventative maintenance solutions, whenever appropriate. Maintain 80% productivity Examine vehicles to determine extent of damage or malfunction(s) Train new service shop employees on company procedures regarding vehicle repairs. Inspect orders for completion and quality before presentation or delivery to customers. Perform inspections and preventative maintenance of vehicles and equipment. Perform routine and scheduled maintenance services such as oil changes, lubrications and filter replacements. Repair, reline, replace, and adjust brakes (air, hydraulic, electric and brake accessories). Test drive vehicles and test components using proper equipment. Troubleshoot and repair suspension systems including leaf and coil spring systems, and Hendrickson walking beam type suspension systems. Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, exhaust systems, steering systems, air conditioning, PTO"S and custom exhaust systems. Adjust, remove and replace clutches and drivelines. Overhaul, troubleshoot and repair diesel and gasoline engines. Troubleshoot and repair fuel tanks, fifth wheels, trailer hitches, pintle hooks, auxiliary axles and frames. Perform tandem alignment, front axle king pin and bushing repairs. Perform basic aluminum and steel wire welding. Review service story provided by service writers and determine tasks that need to be accomplished in order for the order to be completed in a timely manner. File, grind, sand and smooth filled or repaired surfaces, using power tools and hand tools. Remove upholstery, accessories, electrical window and seat operating equipment and trim to gain access to vehicle bodies and fenders. Train new service shop employees on company procedures regarding vehicle repairs. Inspect orders for completion and quality before presentation or delivery to customers. Maintain a clean and organized workspace and service truck. Practice safe driving.

EDUCATION & TRAINING

High school diploma or GED Diesel Technology certificate/degree is a plus, but not required.

7 + years of experience with repairing class 7 & 8 trucks and trailers Diagnostic experience Training experience Welding Air Brake Certified

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Valid driver's license with good driving record required. Class A CDL is preferred, but not required. Must provide hand tools, air tools, and toolbox. Maintain perfect safety record Ability to lift 50lbs.
