Job summary

TransChicago Truck Group is seeking a Mobile Service Technician to be dispatched to customer locations to maintain diesel equipment by inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing vehicles. You will ensure safety and reliability while delivering a positive customer experience.

The role requires 5+ years of industry experience, relevant certifications, and a commitment to detail. It offers compensation in the $35.00/hr-$45.00/hr range, with comprehensive benefits and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Experience with tooling, supply management, and inventory control.
• Technical knowledge with 5+ years of industry experience.
• Exhibits attention to detail and dependability when working independently.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Certifications for Detroit, Cummins, Freightliner or Total Truck Care preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform duties at customer’s location or outside of the company facility.
• Repair and maintain customer vehicles by completing DOT inspections, lube and oil changes, and other minor repairs on tractors, trailers and trucks.
• Maintain Mobile Department vehicles and shop equipment; follow operating instructions; maintain supplies; perform preventive maintenance; call for repairs if needed.
• Maintain truck inventory.
• Record information on vehicles being repaired; annotate services and repairs; complete inspections forms.
• Perform assigned duties in the main shop when mobile work is not available.
• Determine vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests; identify worn parts.
• Keep equipment available by completing preventive maintenance schedules; install component upgrades; control corrosion; perform winterization.
• Verify vehicle performance by test drives and adjusting controls and systems.
• Comply with federal and state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards.
• Update job knowledge by educational opportunities and reading technical publications.
• Enhance department reputation by taking ownership for new requests and adding value.
• Other duties as assigned.
