Job description

Diagnostic Support Services is seeking a reliable, experienced, and highly organized Mobile Phlebotomist to join our team. This role involves traveling to various locations to provide professional specimen collection services while ensuring a high level of patient care, operational excellence, and team leadership. The Lead Traveling Phlebotomist will serve as the on-site leader for mobile events, guiding fellow phlebotomists, coordinating workflow, and ensuring successful event execution. Pay rate for this position is $30 per draw.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform venipunctures and capillary draws on patients of all ages.
  • Ensure proper patient identification and labeling of specimens.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to compliance standards.
  • Travel to assigned locations as scheduled.
  • Provide excellent patient care and maintain professionalism at all times.
  • Follow all safety, infection control, and company protocols.
  • Provide guidance, training, mentorship, and support to other phlebotomists as needed.
  • Serve as a point of contact in the field to assist with workflow coordination and issue resolution.
  • Monitor quality and adherence to company standards among team members in the field.
  • Lead and guide phlebotomy teams during mobile events, ensuring efficient operations, adherence to protocols, and a positive patient experience.
  • Assist with event planning, organization, setup, execution, and breakdown to ensure successful event operations.
  • Coordinate workflow, patient flow, and staffing assignments during events to maximize efficiency and maintain service quality.
  • Serve as the on-site lead, proactively identifying and resolving issues while communicating effectively with management, clients, and event stakeholders.
  • Provide hands-on support by performing specimen collections as needed to assist the team, manage patient volume, and ensure operational success.
  • Ensure all supplies, equipment, and specimens are properly managed and transported in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.

Requirements:

  • Must own a centrifuge or be willing to get one.
  • Minimum of 2 years of phlebotomy experience.
  • Valid Phlebotomy Certification (if required by state).
  • Previous experience leading, mentoring, or supervising phlebotomy staff preferred.
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel extensively to assigned locations.
  • Ability to pay for travel-related expenses upfront and submit expenses for reimbursement in accordance with company policy.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and adapt to changing environments and schedules.
  • Flexible schedule availability, including occasional evenings, weekends, and overnight travel as needed.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of professionalism and attention to detail.

Physical Demands & Travel Requirements:

  • This position requires frequent travel, including driving and occasional overnight travel.
  • Travel-related expenses, including mileage, lodging, parking, and other approved business expenses, will be reimbursed in accordance with company policy. Employees are responsible for paying travel expenses upfront and submitting reimbursement requests.
  • Ability to frequently lift, carry, transport, and set up phlebotomy equipment, specimen collection supplies, coolers, tables, chairs, and event materials.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on a regular basis without assistance.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, reach, and move equipment for extended periods throughout the workday.
  • Ability to load and unload supplies and equipment from vehicles at multiple locations.
  • Ability to work in a variety of settings, including corporate offices, health fairs, community events, and other mobile collection environments.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in a lead or supervisory phlebotomy role.
  • Experience in mobile phlebotomy, event-based collections, or traveling healthcare roles.
  • Experience coordinating or managing onsite healthcare events.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
