Job summary

Dyno Nobel, Inc. is seeking a Mobile Mechanic to maintain and repair mobile drill equipment at remote mining and customer sites. You will work field-based with a company-provided vehicle to keep operations safe and productive.

Responsibilities include diagnosing and repairing drill rigs, servicing diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems, and managing parts and work orders. A 5+ year background in heavy equipment or drilling is preferred, and ATF background clearance is required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in heavy equipment, drilling, or diesel mechanics.
• Own tools required.
• Ability to work in remote field environments and variable conditions.
• Must pass ATF background check for explosives.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repair on drill rigs and heavy equipment.
• Maintain and service diesel engines, hydraulic and electrical systems, and track frames.
• Conduct preventive maintenance and inspections to maximize uptime.
• Document work orders using maintenance software.
• Manage parts inventory, ordering, and cost control.
• Operate a service truck in DOT and safety compliance.
• Ensure compliance with MSHA, OSHA, DOT, EPA, ATF regulations.
• Communicate status with operations, drill operators, and leadership.
• Promote safety and safe work conditions.

Job Brief

Maintain and repair mobile drill equipment, at remote customer sites including engines, chassis, and track frames to assure safe, reliable, and cost-effective use.

Starting pay: $31 - $33 per hour DOE

Schedule: Monday - Friday

Location: Flexible within the Kern, Riverside, and San Bernardino County regions and surrounding areas.

This role is field-based, with travel to various customer locations using a company-provided vehicle; no fixed worksite is required.

What You'll Do

As a Mobile Mechanic, you'll be responsible for maintaining and repairing drilling equipment and mobile fleet at remote mining and customer sites. This is a hands-on, high-impact role where your expertise keeps operations running safely and efficiently. Other duties include:

• Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repair on drill rigs and heavy equipment, including Furukawa Rock Drills (FRD) equipment and similar drill platforms
• Maintain and service diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and track frames
• Conduct preventive maintenance and inspections to maximize equipment uptime
• Accurately document work orders using maintenance software (Manager Plus or similar CMMS systems)
• Manage parts inventory, ordering, and cost control
• Maintain and operate a company service truck in compliance with DOT and safety standards
• Ensure compliance with MSHA, OSHA, DOT, EPA, and ATF regulations
• Communicate effectively with operations teams, drill operators, and leadership regarding equipment status
• Promote a strong safety culture, maintaining safe work conditions at all times

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of experience in heavy equipment, drilling, or diesel mechanics
• Strong knowledge Diesel and gasoline engines, Hydraulic and electrical systems, and heavy equipment diagnostics and repair
• Experience with drill rigs, mining equipment, or construction equipment preferred
• Familiarity with CMMS / maintenance tracking systems (Manager Plus or similar)
• Must have own tools
• Ability to work in remote field environments and variable conditions
• Must be willing to undergo and pass an ATF background check as required to be a possessor of explosives.
