Job summary

Sims Metal (Sims) is seeking a Mechanic - B to diagnose, repair, and maintain mobile and heavy equipment across our operations. The role focuses on electrical, hydraulic, air, and power transmission systems, with responsibilities to replace cylinders, fabricate hoses, and safely disassemble components as needed.

Qualified candidates have 2–4 years of mechanical experience, a high school diploma or GED (technical training preferred), and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; technical training preferred.
• 2–4 years mechanical experience in mobile/heavy equipment.
• Valid driver's license and mechanical aptitude.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain mobile and heavy equipment.
• Repair hydraulic, electrical, air, and power transmission systems.
• Replace hydraulic cylinders and fabricate hoses.
• Read manuals to identify parts and perform post-maintenance checks.
• Disassemble major components safely and diagnose faults.
• Perform welding and torching tasks as needed.
• Work outdoors in varying weather conditions; lift up to 40lbs.
