Louisiana State University Eunice is seeking a Mobile Equipment Operator Light to support the Grounds unit in maintaining and beautifying LSUE’s campus. The role emphasizes operating and performing general maintenance on campus equipment and assisting with event setups and campus deliveries.

The position participates in routine preventive maintenance, lawn care, weed control, and maintenance tasks to ensure safe, clean, and well-kept grounds across campus.

Responsibilities

• Operate 20 horsepower rotary mowers and other equipment as needed.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance: check fluids, oil, filters, belts, sharpen blades, keep equipment clean.
• Transport, setup and breakdown tables, chairs, stages, tents for events on/off campus; deliver equipment and supplies; paint offices/classrooms during winter/rainy season; other duties as assigned.

Job Description:

The grounds maintenance and landscaping unit is a component of the Facility Services Department. Its mission is to properly andsafely maintain and beautify LSUE’s campus which comprises of approximately I 00 acres of land. Numerous trees, shrubs, flowerbeds and manicured lawns are positioned throughout the campus. Other key areas and focal points that require detailed attentioninclude the Chancellor’s residence lawn, the athletic fields, two primary boulevard entrances to the campus, decorative fountain, clock tower plaza, courtyards, etc. In addition to this primary mission, this unit also provides support to the overall Facility ServiceDepartment in the area of special event setups, campus deliveries and the maintenance of the motor pool fleet, which includesapproximately 20 vehicles. The role of the person filling the Mobile Equipment Operator Light position, is to operate and providegeneral maintenance to the associated equipment needed to maintain and beautify the campus along with other duties as outlinedbelow.

60% - Equipment Operator

Operate all equipment enumerated for the Mobile Equipment Operator Light, as necessary along with associated general maintenance functions as follows:

• Operate 20 horsepower rotary mowers.
• Operate various utility tractors and vehicles such as 2x4 & 2x6 Gators, Man Lift, etc.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance on equipment such as checking fluid levels, replacing oil & filters, replacing belts, sharpening/replacing blades, keeping equipment clean and in safe operating condition, etc.

30% - General Maintenance

• Routine general inspections, maintenance, cleaning, etc., to motor pool and shop vehicles
• Pressure wash exterior of buildings
• Edging, weed eating, blowing off grass & other debris from sidewalks, entrances of buildings, parking lots, etc.
• Spraying weed killer around buildings, light poles, ditches, etc.
• Trimming all low-lying tree limbs, shrubs, picking up branches, debris, etc.
• Picking up & properly disposing all exterior garbage receptacles on campus.

10% -

• Transport, setup and breakdown tables, chairs, stages, tents, etc., for designated functions on and off campus for events such as commencement, special banquets, meetings, festivals, etc.
• Deliver various pieces of equipment, furniture, paper, supplies, miscellaneous packages, etc., from the central receiving warehouse to appropriate locations on campus.
• Paint offices, classrooms, BV apartments, etc., during winter & rainy season.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
