Job summary

Amrize is hiring a Mobile Equipment Mechanic in Utah to perform preventive maintenance and on-site repairs for a range of heavy machinery. You will troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic and mechanical systems, manage parts and schedules, and uphold safety standards across all shifts.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in heavy equipment maintenance, with strong diagnostic and reading of schematics. Willingness to work overtime and be a reliable team player is essential.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing mobile equipment.
  • Ability to read hydraulics, electrical schematics and diagnostic data.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and tool use proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance on heavy mobile equipment across plant.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical, hydraulic and mechanical issues.
  • Maintain repair schedules and coordinate parts with staff.
  • Develop winter downtime and maintenance plans with resources.
  • Monitor inventory of equipment and supplies.
  • Communicate downtime, breakdowns and scheduling to management.
  • Supervise outsourced repairs when required.
  • Inspect equipment each shift and document findings.
  • Address safety hazards and follow PPE requirements.
  • Support a safe, productive and team-oriented work environment.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Mechanic - Mobile Equipment position is a key positon responsible for preventative maintenance, trouble shooting and providing service throughout the plant.

WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH
  • Implement extensive Preventative Maintenance Program for all HME equipment, not limited to front end loaders (993s, 992s, 980s, etc.), haul trucks, dozers, backhoes, grader, excavators, fuel truck, dredge and skid steer loaders.
  • Troubleshoot and repair all HME problems (electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic).
  • Maintain a repair schedule, coordinating with plant staff and securing parts required.
  • Develop winter work schedule (downtime schedule) with time, materials and cost.
  • Monitor inventory of equipment and maintenance supplies.
  • Communicate with varying levels of management on down times, breakdowns, and scheduling.
  • Manage the need for outsourced repairs, when needed.
  • Inspect all operating equipment each shift, complete inspection sheets and report problems.
  • Correct malfunctions or irregularities of operating equipment and safety hazards or report to quarry supervisor if corrections cannot be made.
  • Do any cleanup that is necessary to have a better and safer working environment.
  • Communicate all safety, maintenance and production needs.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
  • Education: Ability to read and write
  • Additional Education Preferred: High School Diploma or GED
  • Required Work Experience: Minimum of 5 years' experience in operation knowledge of heavy equipment found in a quarry or materials operation.
  • Extensive experience maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing mobile equipment, including hydraulics, diagnostic, electrical and schematic knowledge
  • Additional Requirements: Limited machinist skills with the ability to read precision measurement instruments
  • Fabrication skills; welding with arch and gas (certificate) preferred
  • Experience in managing maintenance on a fleet of equipment preferred
  • Manufacturer sponsored tracking preferred
  • Computer skills
  • Ability to provide own set of mechanic hand tools
  • Ability to forecast and schedule upcoming repairs
  • Ability to perform rigorous physical activities in all weather conditions
  • Self-motivated with solid work ethic
  • Have the willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required
  • Previous experience in a construction or quarry environment preferred

This job requires shift work, callouts, scheduled and unscheduled overtime, weekend and holiday work. Employees may have the work schedule adjusted on short notice. Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
