Job summary

Expedia Group in the United States is seeking a Mobile Engineer III (iOS) to design, build, and maintain secure, high‑performing native iOS applications for Expedia Checkout. You will translate product requirements into technical designs and collaborate with backend, design, and QA teams to deliver end‑to‑end customer journeys.

You will own the code from design through production, with emphasis on architecture, observability, testing, and incident resolution, while safely integrating AI/ML

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • Professional experience shipping native iOS apps from design to production.
  • Strong iOS architecture, low‑level design, API integration, and data modeling.
  • Proficiency with iOS tools, frameworks, testing, observability and ops practices.
  • Experience collaborating in cross‑functional, multi‑domain teams.
  • Preferred: designing and scaling complex iOS architectures (modularization, offline).
  • Familiarity with AI/ML‑enabled capabilities in mobile apps.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain native iOS apps that are secure, performant, and resilient.

As a Mobile Engineer III, iOS, working on Expedia’s critical production checkout applications, your mission will be to ensure Expedia Checkout is always fast, available, scalable, and engineered to withstand unparalleled demand. You will be in the thick of solving the [often unexpected] problems of systems at scale in a way most engineers never experience. You will have strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, proficiency in coding and systems design, solid interpersonal skills, and a desire to tackle the complex problems of scale. In This Role, You Will: Design, build, and maintain native iOS applications that are secure, performant, and resilient using modern iOS frameworks and best practices Translate product and experience requirements into clear technical designs (LLD, API design, data models) Collaborate cross‑functionally with backend, product, design, and quality teams to deliver end‑to‑end customer journeys Write clean, testable, and observable code; contribute to automated testing, monitoring, and code reviews Diagnose and resolve complex production issues, improving application reliability and performance Safely integrate and operate AI/ML‑enabled solutions while maintaining privacy and security standards

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or 5 years of equivalent practical experience Professional experience shipping native iOS applications with ownership from design through production Strong iOS architecture, low‑level design, API integration, and data modeling experience Proficiency with iOS tools, frameworks, testing, observability, and operational best practices Experience collaborating in cross‑functional, multi‑domain teams

Preferred Qualifications: Experience designing and scaling complex iOS architectures (modularization, performance, offline support) Proven delivery of high‑impact iOS features across multiple domains Strong focus on operational excellence (instrumentation, monitoring, alerting, incident resolution) Experience integrating AI/ML‑enabled capabilities into mobile apps securely and responsibly Familiarity with AI‑driven development tools and applying AI/ML concepts to improve product quality and developer efficiency

The total cash range for this position in Seattle is $146,000.00 to $204,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $233,500.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role. Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
