A facilities maintenance company is seeking a Mobile Engineer in New York City to provide preventive maintenance and support on various building systems. Description

As PHFM Mobile Engineer, you will be responsible for providing support, preventive maintenance, and repairs on equipment and systems.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Assist with the installation and modification of building equipment and systems.
  • Painting ground and high level
  • Lighting installation to include fixtures, bulbs, ballasts
  • Flooring removal and installation inclusive of VCT, Porcelain, and Carpet
  • Ceiling repairs and diversion installation
  • Glass repairs, replacement, and board up
  • Pre and post storm preparation when/where applicable
  • Work required to be performed in most instances overnight, with ability to respond to daytime requests
  • Assist in site decommissioning with removal of all fixtures and signage.
  • Perform handyman inspections in adherence to the scope of work at the pre-determined cadence.
  • Review assigned work orders and estimate the time and materials needed to complete repairs. Will manage and track completion.
  • Support energy management by taking measures to ensure that all systems are operating in the most efficient manner.
  • Inspect new or existing installations for compliance with building codes and safety regulations.
  • Use communication skills to exchange straightforward information. Respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, co-workers, and supervisors.
  • Operate company-issued vehicle in the execution of daily work responsibilities
  • Use existing procedures to solve straightforward problems while having a limited opportunity to exercise discretion.
  • Impact through clearly defined duties, methods, and tasks are described in detail.
  • Deliver own output by following defined procedures and processes under close supervision and guidance.
  • Perform ongoing preventive maintenance and repairs on mechanical, industrial, plumbing, structural, life safety, and control systems for the facility to keep facility and building systems up to applicable standards as assigned.
Requirements
Education, Experience and Training
  • High School Diploma, GED, or trade school diploma with 1-2 years of job‑related experience. In lieu of a diploma, a combination of experience and education will be considered. Valid Driver’s License required.
  • Meet the physical requirements of this role including stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, and the ability to lift/carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.

  • Ability to follow basic work routines and standards in the application of work.
  • Communication skills to exchange straightforward information.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Examples include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Strong organizational skills with an inquisitive mindset.
  • Basic math skills. Ability to calculate simple figures such as percentages, discounts, and markups.
Work Environment / Physical Requirements

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. This position works in an environment with moderate noise level. (Examples: business office with computers and printers, light traffic). Usual office environment with frequent sitting, walking, standing, and occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and balancing. Frequent use of eye, hand, and finger coordination enabling the use of office machinery. Oral and auditory capacity enabling interpersonal communication as well as communication through automated devices such as telephone. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Ability to read and understand work instructions.
