Job summary

CBRE is hiring a Mobile Building Engineer to support facilities in the Knoxville, TN area. The role requires the expertise to perform repairs and preventive maintenance on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and building systems.

You will review work orders, estimate materials, and oversee preventive maintenance programs to meet client specifications and safety standards. A valid EPA license, four years of experience, and willingness to travel are required.

Qualifications

• Has high school diploma or GED and EPA license.
• Minimum four years as a building engineer or maintenance role.
• Proficiency in mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
• Familiar with LOTO protocols and OSHA 10.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and ability to travel.

Responsibilities

• Oversee maintenance and repairs of mechanical, industrial, plumbing, and electrical systems.
• Review work orders, estimate time/materials, and manage inventory.
• Implement preventive maintenance programs to extend equipment life.
• Ensure fire alarms, HVAC, and plumbing meet design specs and code requirements.
• Ensure compliance with codes, regulations, and safety policies.
• Operate company vehicles; perform complex tasks and provide solutions.
• Coach teammates and share knowledge across disciplines.

About the Role

As a CBRE Mobile Building Engineer, this role supports several facilities in the Knoxville, TN area and requires expertise to perform repairs and maintain several buildings, industrial systems, equipment, and ground requests. This role is part of the Engineering and Technical Services function and is responsible for providing support, preventive maintenance, and repairs on equipment and systems.

• Must be comfortable with extensive everyday travel in the Knoxville, TN area.
• Must live within designated radius of the job site to reliably work schedule/shift.

What You’ll Do

• Oversee maintenance and repairs to the mechanical, industrial, plumbing, structural, life safety, and control systems for the facility to keep building systems up to applicable standards as assigned.
• Review assigned work orders, estimate time and materials needed to complete the repair and maintain inventory of adequate supplies and tools.
• Implement preventive maintenance programs to ensure that building machinery and systems meet or exceed their rated life; oversee repairs and emergency maintenance as needed.
• Review inspections of building and industrial systems including fire alarms, HVAC, and plumbing to ensure the operation of equipment is within design capabilities and achieves environmental conditions prescribed by the client.
• Oversee compliance with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agencies, and company directives related to building operations and work safety.
• Operate company-issued vehicles in the execution of daily work responsibilities.
• Apply in-depth knowledge of standard principles and techniques/procedures to accomplish complex assignments and provide innovative solutions.
• Coach others and share in-depth knowledge of own job discipline and broad knowledge of several job disciplines within the function.
• Lead by example and model behaviors that are consistent with CBRE RISE values.
• Work to build consensus and convince others to reach an agreement.
• Impact a range of customer, operational, project or service activities within own team and other related teams.

What You’ll Need

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future.

To perform this job effectively, an individual should be able to perform each duty satisfactorily.

• Commercial and Industrial maintenance
• Mechanical (overhead doors), Electrical (3-phase, lighting/ballast), and Plumbing
• Lockout-Tagout (LOTO) and OSHA 10 is a plus
• Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office & CMMS)

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• Proven experience as a building engineer; minimum of four (4) years.
• Universal EPA license required.
• Mobile maintenance experience highly preferred.
• Possess and maintain a valid driver's license and good driving record with periodic checks.

CERTIFICATES AND/OR LICENSES

Certification in two or more of the following: Electrical, Mechanical, HVAC and Refrigeration systems, process controls, mechanical power transmissions, painting, plumbing, carpentry, or engine repair as well as CFC Certification.

Other Skills and/or Abilities

Meet the physical requirements of this role including stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, and the ability to lift/carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.

Understanding of existing procedures and standards to solve slightly complex problems.

Ability to analyze possible solutions using technical experience to apply appropriate judgment and precedents.

Strong organizational skills with an inquisitive mindset.

In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
