Job summary

Advantage Truck Group is seeking an experienced Diesel Technician to join our Mobile Team in Massachusetts. You will perform on-site repairs and fleet maintenance for customer accounts, including road-side service, working with minimal supervision and delivering high-quality workmanship.

This role offers a flat-rate hourly pay, benefits from day one, and opportunities for career advancement within a supportive shop and field-service environment.

Qualifications

• Four+ years of diesel technician experience and strong diagnostic skills.
• Certificate from a technical or trade school relevant to diesel systems.
• Brakes, drive train, diesel engines, electrical/electronic systems, HVAC, suspension and steering certifications.
• Preventive maintenance inspection knowledge and practice.

Responsibilities

• Perform on-site repairs and fleet maintenance on customer accounts.
• Raise trucks, buses, and heavy equipment using hydraulic jacks or hoists.
• Conduct routine maintenance including oil changes and battery checks.
• Inspect and repair brakes, steering, transmissions, engines, and electrical systems.
• Diagnose malfunctions, read diagnostic results, and coordinate with parts/service as needed.
• Test-drive vehicles to verify repairs and ensure proper operation.

Mobile Technicians are responsible for on site repairs and fleet maintenance for customer accounts along with road-side repairs. This is a great opportunity for a highly skilled, efficient and knowledgeable technician to work independently.

Compensation

• Flat Rate Position, hourly pay rate : $21.00 - $56.00 D.O.E.
• Overtime pay rate time and a half
• Bonus monthly performance pay program

Duties And Responsibilities

• Performs work on repair order in accordance with dealership and factory standards
• Raise trucks, buses, and heavy parts or equipment by using hydraulic jacks or hoists
• Do routine maintenance, oil changes, battery check, lubricating equipment and parts
• Inspect, repair, or overhaul buses, trucks, and heavy equipment.
• Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, transmissions, engines, etc.
• Diagnoses cause of any malfunction and performs repair
• Read and interpret diagnostic test results.
• Communicates with service advisor/dispatcher immediately if additional work is needed
• Communicates with parts department to obtain needed parts
• Repair or replace malfunctioning components, parts, mechanical or electrical equipment.
• Adjust and align wheels, tighten bolts and screws, and attach system components.
• Saves and tags parts of the job if under warranty or if requested by the customer
• Test-drive vehicles to ensure that they run correctly after repair.

Requirements

• Ability to handle heavy equipment and machinery
• CDL preferred
• DOT health card required
• Strong language and communication skills required and concise oral and written skills necessary
• Ability to regularly lift 50 pounds and occasionally lift up to 100 pounds.
• Must be able to maintain stationary positions throughout the work day due
• Must be able to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform required tasks
• Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged periods
