Job summary

GTG Peterbilt is seeking a Mobile Diesel Technician to travel to client sites in Wichita, performing maintenance, diagnostic services, and repairs on diesel vehicles and equipment. Responsibilities include engine service, brake work, inspections, and troubleshooting, with a focus on safety and quality.

Candidates should have 3+ years in diesel repair, DOT inspection certification, and valid CDL within 90 days.

Qualifications

• 3+ years’ experience with diesel truck and trailer repair, maintenance, and diagnostics.
• DOT Inspection Certification required or preferred.
• Proficient with diagnostic tools and equipment.
• Ability to provide sufficient tool inventory to perform job duties.
• Physical ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in varied temperatures.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled repair, maintenance, and services on diesel vehicles and equipment as directed by the Service Manager.
• Diagnose and repair engine and mechanical/electrical issues.
• Conduct CVI and DOT inspections.
• Communicate with customers and Service Management about job status.
• Maintain service truck and paperwork daily, including inventory and tools.

We have an opening for a Mobile Diesel Technician. The successful candidate will travel to client sites and provide maintenance, repair, and diagnostic services for diesel vehicles and equipment to include but are not limited to engine services, brake service, engine diagnosis, inspections, cooling system service, etc. Most common service calls include scheduled services and repairs, break down response, DOT inspections.

Requirements

• Perform instructed and scheduled repair, maintenance, and services as needed on various vehicles and equipment as instructed by the Service Manager.
• Maintains vehicle functional condition by listening to operator concerns.
• Conducting CVI and DOT inspections.
• Diagnosing and repair of minor engine issues.
• Repairing mechanical and electrical systems malfunctions.
• Replacing basic parts and components.
• Verifies vehicle serviceability by conducting test drives, adjusting controls and systems.
• Communicate with customers in a professional manner on job status and schedule status.
• Communicate regularly with Service Management on job status and schedule status.
• Maintain appearance and service truck in a professional manner.
• Keep supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipt.
• Stock and maintain service truck inventory, tool collection, and all necessary paperwork daily (candidate to provide own tools).
• Adhere to all traffic laws.
• Must be able to work independently and communicate with team when needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum 3 years’ experience with diesel truck and trailer repair, maintenance, and diagnostics.
• Minimum DOT Inspection Certified (additional schooling and certifications preferred).
• Must be able to provide sufficient tool inventory to perform job duties.
• Physical requirements include standing, bending, lifting (50+ lbs.), and sitting for long periods of time in varied temperatures and weather conditions.
• Experience interacting directly with customers with high levels of customer service and communication skills.
• Must have neat, legible handwriting.
• Proficient computer skills.
• Current CDL or be able to attain within 90 days of hire.
• Clean driving record, pre-employment drug screening and background check required.

EDUCATION:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED), preferred.
• Combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
