Job summary

The City of Boulder seeks a Behavioral Health Crisis Response Clinician to join the BHCRT. Under general supervision, you respond with police or BHCRT staff to 911 or non-emergency lines with a behavioral health component, providing crisis intervention, assessment, de-escalation, and referrals to services.

You will co-respond on high-acuity calls and coordinate with schools, hospitals, families, and community partners.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in counseling, social work, psychology or related field.
• Two years of crisis intervention, suicide risk assessment, de-escalation experience.
• Licensed in Colorado or ability to get licensed within 12 months.
• Ability to document clearly and manage crisis situations per policy.
• Knowledge of laws, ethics, and involuntary treatment processes.
• Excellent communication with public, colleagues, and agencies.

Responsibilities

• Provides in-person response to behavioral health crises in community settings.
• Conducts mental status exams and risk assessments; prepares mental health holds as needed.
• Makes on-scene care decisions and collaborates with collateral agencies.
• Conducts follow-ups to connect individuals with behavioral health services.
• Participates in supervision, team meetings, and documents contacts per policy.
• Ensures safe, respectful interactions in diverse and challenging environments.
