Job summary

thyssenkrupp Copper and Brass Sales in the United States is seeking a safety‑minded Material Handler to operate cranes and forklifts, process material to order, and maintain a clean, safe work area on the warehouse floor.

You will read work orders, verify product against specs, record measurements, and support lean and quality initiatives while meeting strict safety requirements. Minimum HS diploma, 1–2 years of machine operation, and ability to lift 40 lbs are required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 1–2 years of machine operation experience.
  • Able to read and write, perform basic math, and lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Safe work practices and use of handheld measuring tools.
  • Forklift and crane operation experience preferred.
  • Computer literacy is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, and maintain cranes, forklifts and other material handling equipment.
  • Process material to order and verify against work orders.
  • Enter measurements and maintain logs and production data.
  • Maintain clean, safe, organized work area on the warehouse floor.
  • Assist with lean and quality initiatives and train others when required.

Job Summary

Apply metal to customer orders and accurately process material according to the work order specifications using advanced machinery or having an advanced level of skill in the use of warehouse machinery. Ensure that processing equipment is maintained in a safe and clean condition. Maintain processing area in a clean, safe and orderly manner. Complete all required information entry accurately. Perform any other tasks as assigned.

Job Description

Key Accountabilities:

  • Must be certified in the material handler position.
  • Set up, operate, and maintain cranes, forklifts, and other material handling equipment.
  • Pull, inspect and verify product before processing.
  • Properly and safely set up equipment to run material to set up note specifications.
  • Process set up notes according to work order specifications.
  • Verify that product meets set up note specifications per written work instructions and record measurements (sampling plan).
  • Communicate with appropriate sales representative regarding changes/clarification to orders.
  • Should be able to make recommendations to improve processes in the manufacturing area.
  • Perform equipment preventive maintenance; Perform general clean-up.
  • Properly enter/delete material identification tags per written instructions.
  • Balance the immediate workload recognizing when help is needed and when to be the team player to dig right in and assist or direct others,
  • Assist in the packaging of material per written work instructions and work order.
  • Maintain issued measurement equipment in working condition.
  • Properly operate weighing scale and record inspection measurements.
  • Identify, record, and segregate scrap and any non-conforming material.
  • Provide feedback to supervision regarding machine efficiency and product quality.
  • Perform quality checks during machine operation to insure proper function.
  • Complete production/productivity logs and reconcile production data.
  • Complete job responsibilities in a manner that does not put him/her or other individuals in an unsafe situation.
  • Train others when required
  • Assist in any activities related to lean and/or quality
  • This is a position that works directly on the warehouse floor around heavy machinery.

Hiring Range: $21.00 - $22.00 per hour
