Job summary

Methodist Medical Group is seeking a certificated medical coder to assign CPT/HCPCS, ICD-10 codes and modifiers for outpatient and inpatient encounters. You will audit E&M services, educate providers on coding issues, and participate in coding compliance activities.

Requirements include a Bachelor or Associate degree in Health Information Management and 2 years in outpatient coding; CPC or CCS-P certification is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree preferred -OR- Associate degree in Health Information Management preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years recent experience in outpatient setting (primary care & surgical).
• Surgical coding in Trauma, General Surgery, Orthopedics, and/or Neurosurgery preferred.
• Must hold CPC or CCS-P with appropriate experience.

Responsibilities

• Assign accurate CPT/HCPCS, ICD-10 codes and modifiers from documentation for outpatient and inpatient professional encounters.
• Audit E&M services against documentation in the medical record.
• Educate providers and staff on coding issues and participate in coding compliance activities.
