THE SCHEDULE FOR THIS POSITION IS Sunday, Monday, Tuesday (3/8s) 2130 - 0600PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITYThe Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) participates in all Product Quality Control (PQC) department activities. The MLT performs testing and services related to product manufacturing, quality control, laboratory support, and customer service within the scope and complexity defined by applicable accrediting agencies. This position also participates in required competency, proficiency, and continuing education activities, as well as departmental training, mentoring, and educational initiatives (e.g., laboratory tours, presentations), as applicable. Through these responsibilities, the MLT helps ensure PQC laboratory operations consistently meet regulatory and organizational standards, deliver high-quality service, and support the needs of both internal and external customers.The MLT exemplifies and champions Carter BloodCare (CBC) Core Values and Code of Conduct, and adheres to CBC policies and applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). To support ongoing development and organizational goals, the MLT is required to attend meetings and training sessions, as assigned. The MLT maintains active, current professional licensure and/or certifications as required by role-specific regulations and organizational requirements.This position may require working varied shifts, extended hours, weekends, and/or overtime to support operational needs. Regular full-time attendance is required during normal working hours.EDUCATIONAssociate’s Degree in a Chemical, Biological, Clinical or Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) or Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) from an accredited institution, as outlined in 42 CFR 493.1423(b), or equivalent education and training, including at least 60 semester hours or the equivalent from an accredited institution that, at a minimum, includes either:24 semester hours of Medical Laboratory Technology courses; or,24 semester hours of science courses that include:6 semester hours of Chemistry; and,6 semester hours of Biology; and,12 more semester hours of Chemistry, Biology, or Medical Laboratory Technology in any combination;High school graduate or GED equivalent and have successfully completed an official military medical laboratory procedures course of at least a duration of 50 weeks and have held the military enlisted occupational specialty of Medical Laboratory Specialist/Laboratory Technician; or,Laboratory training that includes either of the following:Completion of a Clinical Laboratory Training program approved or accredited by the ABHES, the CAHEA, or other organizations approved by HHS.
