Job summary

Archbold Mitchell Hospital in Camilla, GA seeks a Medical Laboratory Technician to perform specimen collection, test ordering, and routine lab duties. You will gain exposure across hematology, chemistry, microbiology, and blood bank areas, with emphasis on safety and quality control.

Requirements include an Associate’s Degree in MLT and national certification (ASCP/AMT/AAB). New grads must certify within 18 months; ongoing education and archbold maintenance of certification are expected.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology is required.
• Certification by ASCP/AMT/AAB or equivalent is required.
• New grads must pass a national cert exam within 18 months of hire.
• Ongoing competency assessments and continuing education in lab sciences are required.
• Maintenance of certification is required during employment.
• Experience per Georgia DHR requirements may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate knowledge of hospital, laboratory and referral facilities computer systems.
• Demonstrate proficiency in patient specimen collection and test order functions.
• Demonstrate correct venipuncture/capillary/urine/drug screen collection techniques.
• Collect all specimens efficiently and timely.
• Perform instrument maintenance and quality control with documentation.
• Comply with laboratory safety policies and procedures.
• Function in all laboratory areas (Blood Bank, Chem., Hemo, Coag, Urinalysis, Micro, Immuno).
• Handle non-technical, phlebotomy and clerical duties as needed.

Education

Associate’s Degree from an accredited Medical Laboratory Technician Program

MLT certification by ASCP, AMT, AAB or other nationally recognized certification agency

New graduates must pass one of the national certification exams within 18 months of hire

Competency assessment and continuing education in laboratory sciences required throughout employment

Maintenance of certification is required during employment with Archbold Medical Center

Experience as deemed necessary to be accordance with certification by the Georgia Department of Human Resources
