Job summary

The University of Kansas Health System is seeking a MLS Technical Specialist for Core Lab Hematology on day shifts. This role performs comprehensive lab testing, ensures result accuracy, and maintains high quality standards to support patient care.

You will serve as the department lead in the manager's or supervisor's absence and act as the technical/domain expert for departmental issues.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree and meets CLIA requirements for high complexity testing (ASCP, NCA or eligible; completion within 6 months of hire).
• Graduate of a NCCLS approved training program.
• Preferred: Additional Bachelor of Science Degree in Biological, Physical, or Chemical sciences.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive laboratory testing and ensure accuracy and quality of results.
• Maintain and troubleshoot equipment and processes.
• Act as department lead in absence of manager/supervisor.

Overview

The MLS Technical Specialist participates in all departmental responsibilities for comprehensive laboratory testing for patients. The specialist ensures patient laboratory results are accurate, timely, and of high quality. In the absence of the manager or supervisor, the specialist oversees the department and serves as the domain expert for issues that arise.
