Job summary

Baton Rouge General is seeking a Medical Technologist to join our clinical laboratory team in Baton Rouge. You will perform routine and special laboratory tests on patient specimens, interpret results, and support data entry and reporting as part of a collaborative care environment.

Ideal candidates are self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of working in a fast-paced setting. A Louisiana CLS license (General or Technician) is required, with opportunities to grow within a nationally

Qualifications

• Self-motivated with a desire to learn.

• Must have the ability to exercise judgment in applying practices, procedures, and techniques to resolve clearly defined work-related issues.
• Current Clinical Laboratory Scientist - General or Technician license issued by the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners required.

Performs routine and special clinical laboratory tests on patient specimens, correlates and interprets data based on knowledge of techniques, principles and instruments. • Performs various laboratory diagnostic tests on patient specimens.
• Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of the operation and principles of departmental instrumentation.
• Accurately interprets and reports laboratory test results.
• Communicates effectively with physicians, nursing staff, co-workers and other organizational staff.
• Observes and follows established departmental environment of care and safety protocols and practices.
• Attends departmental, organizational and continuing education meetings.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
