Job summary

Natera is a global leader in cfDNA testing, focusing on oncology, women’s health, and organ health. The Medical Laboratory Scientist I, Data Reviewer will join the Operations team to review and analyze clinical test results and collaborate with CLS and lab personnel to maintain accurate records of test results and patient information.

You will troubleshoot analytical issues, verify specimen analyses, and ensure compliance with GLP and HIPAA/PHI privacy standards while adhering to SOPs.

Qualifications

  • 0-2 years experience as an ASCP-certified Medical Technologist in a clinical laboratory environment with knowledge in molecular diagnostics.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in medical technology or laboratory science.
  • OR Bachelor's or higher in chemical, physical, or biological sciences with at least six months of supervised experience or relevant training
  • Current MT/MDxT/CLS/MB certification from ASCP, AMT or AAB is required
  • A copy of the degree is required upon time of hire; degrees must be from the US or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Review clinical test results of molecular genetic testing received from laboratories for accuracy and translate into LIMS
  • Review and analyze raw data files in proper software and resolve routine issues
  • Verify the proper specimen analyzed for patients and review the test requisition forms to verify the correct tests were performed
  • Work within several laboratory information systems to review patient demographics and make corrections as needed
  • Understand and follow the most current applicable standard operating procedures
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory agency requirements through documentation, audits, and corrective action and follow GLP
  • Comply with all company and department policies; work with PHI on paper and electronic forms and access PHI to perform the job
  • Complete HIPAA/PHI privacy, policy compliance, and security training within 30 days of hire
  • Performs other duties as assigned

POSITION SUMMARY

The Medical Laboratory Scientist I, Data Reviewer is a member of the Operations Department to review and analyze clinical test results. This individual collaborates with a team of CLS and laboratory personnel to maintain accurate records of test results and patient information and perform any troubleshooting as needed.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Review clinical test results of molecular genetic testing received from laboratories for accuracy and translate intoLIMS
  • Review and analyze raw data files in proper software and resolve routine issues
  • Verify the proper specimen analyzed for patients and review the test requisition forms to verify the correct tests were performed.
  • Work within several laboratory information systems to review patient demographics and make corrections as needed
  • Responsible for understanding most current applicable standard operating procedures
  • Ensures compliance with all regulatory agency requirements through documentation, audits, and corrective action and follows GLP (good laboratory practice)
  • Comply with all company and department policies and procedures. This role works with PHI on a regular basis both in paper and electronic form and have access to various technologies to access PHI (paper and electronic) in order to perform the job
  • Employee must complete training relating to HIPAA/PHI privacy, General Policies and Procedure Compliance training, and security training as soon as possible but not later than the first 30 days of hire
  • Performs other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
  • 0-2-years experience as an ASCP-certified Medical Technologist in a clinical laboratory environment with knowledge in molecular diagnostics.
  • A bachelor's, or higher, degree in medical technology or laboratory science
  • OR A bachelor’s, or higher, degree in one of the chemical, physical, or biological sciences, and, in addition, at least six months of acceptable supervised experience and/or relevant training
  • Current MT/MDxT/CLS/MB certification from ASCP, AMT or AAB is required
  • A copy of the degree is required upon time of hire. Degrees must be from the US or equivalent.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Good organizational skills
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Knowledge of computer skills, quality control, calibration, and instrument maintenance
  • Knowledge of various DNA sequencing methods preferred.
  • The ability to produce accurate work under pressure, while handling changing volumes of work, and tight deadlines. The ability to organize time and prioritize tasks.
  • Adhere to the department's time and attendance guidelines
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Duties are typically performed in an office setting. This position requires the ability to use a computer keyboard, communicate over the telephone and read printed material. Duties may require working outside normal working hours (evenings and weekends) at times.
