Job summary

Mercuryo, a remote-first fintech, seeks a senior Compliance Lead to own U.S. MTL licensing across states and supervise AML/BSA programs. You will coordinate with Legal, Product, Marketing, and Engineering to embed regulatory compliance into launches and ongoing operations.

You will build scalable controls for KYC/AML, review new crypto-related products, and manage vendor relationships. A background in payments/fintech compliance with multi-state licensing is essential.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in payments/fintech compliance with hands-on U.S. MTL licensing (multi-state).
• Strong AML/BSA program ownership and operational execution experience.
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional programs and produce regulator-ready documentation.
• Experience with crypto/fund flows and partnerships with institutional players.

Your Role:

MTL licensing (applications + renewals)

• Own and execute the multi-state MTL strategy (internal and external coordination, drafting/creating and implementing policies, resourcing, and timelines).
• Lead NMLS MU1/MU2 filings and state add-ons (bonding, net worth/audited financials, policies, state forms, outside-NMLS items).
• Manage deficiency responses, regulator inquiries (including formal information requests and enforcement-related matters), and examination readiness.
• Run ongoing licensing operations: renewals, amendments, reporting, agent/authorized delegate rosters, key individual/control change notifications.
• Coordinate CBC/fingerprinting/credit requirements for required individuals.

AML/BSA program (design + execution).

• Build and operate the AML/BSA program: risk assessment, policies/procedures, KYC/KYB/CIP, sanctions, monitoring governance, SAR escalation/filing governance, training, independent testing, recordkeeping.
• Own digital-asset-specific compliance requirements (e.g., Travel Rule) and set/maintain KYC and transaction-monitoring thresholds and rules.
• Review new products and features for compliance risk prior to launch.
• Maintain an audit-ready evidence library and clear operational workflows for investigations and escalations.

Cross-functional leadership

• Partner with Legal, Product, Marketing, Ops, Finance, Security, and Engineering to embed compliance into launches and operations.
• Oversee compliance-related vendors (KYC/screening/monitoring, payments partners) including due diligence and ongoing oversight.
• Ad-hoc compliance needs.

What We're Looking For:

• 7+ years in payments/fintech compliance with hands-on U.S. MTL licensing (multi-state).
• Strong AML/BSA program ownership and operational execution experience.
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional programs and produce regulator-ready documentation.
• Strong judgment, strong writing, and execution discipline.
• Experience with crypto / complex fund flows, collaborating with institutional partners, and surety bond management.
• Experience with multijurisdictional company, particularly EU would be an advantage.
• Prior experience serving as, or closely partnering with, a BSA/AML Officer.
• Management experience a plus.
