U.S. Bank is seeking a Mortgage Loan Originator to originate loans in an assigned metro area. You will take applications, perform preliminary underwriting, and submit files for approval, while coordinating documents needed for processing and closing. Travel to client sites is part of the role.

The position emphasizes independent work, knowledge of underwriting standards, and strong communication skills to support customers and sales efforts.

Competenze

• NMLS registration under the S.A.F.E. Act and Regulation Z, with ongoing compliance.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1+ years of mortgage, sales, real estate, or banking experience.

Job Description

Originates mortgage loans in an assigned metropolitan territory. Takes applications, conducts preliminary underwriting reviews, submits loan applications to processing and underwriting for approval. Follows-up to ensure that documents required for processing, underwriting, and closing are secured in a timely manner from appropriate sources. Incumbents are customarily and regularly engaged in making and soliciting loan sales and conducting sales-related activities away from U.S. Bank locations.

Required Qualifications

• National Mortgage Licensing Service (NMLS) registration under the terms of the S.A.F.E. Act of 2008 and Regulation Z and ongoing compliance with all legal or regulatory registration requirements, including, but not limited to maintaining a satisfactory criminal and credit record
• High school diploma or equivalent
• One or more years of mortgage, sales, real estate, or banking experience
• Ability to travel

Desired Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of pricing and underwriting requirements of various mortgage insurance companies
• Working knowledge of underwriting requirements for FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA, local bonding programs, and private investors
• Basic knowledge of local, state and national laws (e.g. zoning ordinances, Truth-in Lending, RESPA, energy audit requirements, etc.)
• Ability to work independently
• Ability to analyze financial information
• Effective verbal and written communication skills

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role.
