Roles involve arriving early, keeping a precise scorecard, announcing game events, coordinating with the MLB Stringer, and communicating via Slack. The position offers training and requires strong judgment and collaboration with MLB staff.

Qualifications

• Exceptional knowledge of Official Baseball Rules, Section 9 (OBR).
• Available to score 20–30 games per season.
• Ability to use online tools for performance and communication.
• Clear communication via press box mic and with club officials.
• Good judgment on plays requiring decisions.
• Attention to detail in scoring and totals.
• Collaborative with MLB staff and others.
• Experience in professional or amateur scoring preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Arrive 60 minutes before scheduled start.
• Test press box microphone and set up before first pitch.
• Keep a detailed scorecard for every pitch and play.
• Announce first pitch time, fielding credits, and winning/losing pitchers.
• Coordinate with MLB Stringer and approve post-game report.
• Communicate with MLB Official Scoring via Slack as needed.
• Provide post-game recap detailing Rule 9 applications.
• Participate in in-season training as required.
• Handle daily correspondence via email/Slack/text.
• Other game-day duties as directed by scoring supervisor.
