Job summary

Aurora Innovation is seeking a Staff Machine Learning Engineer - Online Maps to lead perception algorithm development for real-time mapping in the Aurora Driver system. You will design and optimize ML models, collaborate across maps, simulation, and safety teams, and push production-ready perception solutions into a high-stakes autonomous driving stack.

Ideal candidates have strong Python/C++ software skills, deep learning expertise, and a track record in CV/ML research or industry work on

Qualifications

• Excellent software engineering skills in Python and/or C++.
• Extensive experience with DL frameworks such as PyTorch, JAX, or TensorFlow.
• Experience in Computer Vision, ML/DL, or AI with industry experience or publications.
• Preferred: experience in self-driving vehicles, autonomy, and robotics projects.
• Contributions to open source projects.
• Strong publication record in relevant conferences/journals.

Responsibilities

• Lead and collaborate to improve perception algorithms powering the Aurora Driver.
• Research and develop state-of-the-art ML models for perception in diverse scenarios.
• Develop verification and validation technologies and techniques.
• Partner with maps, simulation, and safety teams to ensure production readiness without a vehicle operator.
• Build infrastructure and tests for go/no-go decisions for deployment.
• Integrate and deploy production-ready solutions into the Aurora Driver codebase.

Responsibilities

Lead and Collaborate with other members of the Online Maps autonomy team to improve/ideate and implement perception algorithms that power the Aurora Driver

Research and develop state-of-the art deep learning/machine learning models to improve our perception solutions under challenging and diverse scenarios

Develop novel verification and validation technologies and techniques

Partner with engineers from online maps, simulation, and safety to ensure that online mapping technology is ready for operation with no vehicle operator

Build infrastructure and tests that support critical go/no go decisions for deploying the Aurora Driver

Integrate, test, and deploy production-ready solutions into the production code that powers the Aurora Driver

Qualification
