Job summary

Planet Pharma is seeking a hands-on Contract Scientist, Machine Learning AI to accelerate project work across protein structure, phenotypic, and multimodal data. You will partner with computational biology, data science, translational, and discovery teams to develop, evaluate, and apply machine-learning approaches that turn diverse biological datasets into actionable project insights.

The role emphasizes robust analyses, prototypes, and reusable workflows for defined program needs.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree required in computational biology, bioinformatics, CS, or related field.
• Hands-on experience applying ML to biological or biomedical data.
• Experience with protein structure data or features in research/drug discovery.
• Experience integrating and modeling multimodal datasets.
• Strong Python programming and scientific computing libraries.

Responsibilities

• Develop and apply ML and statistical approaches for defined projects using protein structure, phenotypic, and multimodal data.
• Curate, harmonize, and quality-control data from internal/external sources; document provenance and limitations.
• Build reproducible workflows for feature generation, model training, validation, and evaluation.
• Integrate protein structural representations with cellular and phenotypic data to generate hypotheses and prioritize analyses.
• Write clear, maintainable analysis code and contribute to shared repos and docs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional scientists to translate biological questions into computational workplans and milestones.
• Communicate methods, findings, risks, and recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Support rapid iteration on project-specific prototypes in a dynamic discovery environment.
