Job summary

Meta is seeking a Research Scientist in Machine Learning to push the boundaries of deep learning, representation learning, and large-scale model architectures. You will design, implement, and evaluate novel ML algorithms using PyTorch, and iterate with experimental results and data-driven insights.

You will run controlled experiments, write clean research code, and contribute to shared codebases to ensure reproducibility and scalability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/CE or equivalent practical experience.
• PhD in ML/AI/CS/Statistics or related field.
• Must obtain work authorization for the country of employment at hire.
• 2+ years of ML research experience with deep learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow).
• 2+ years of Python or C++ for research and systems development in ML contexts.
• Experience communicating research findings via papers, reports or presentations.

Responsibilities

• Conduct original research in core ML areas including deep learning, representation learning, generative modeling, optimization, and large-scale architectures.
• Design, implement and evaluate novel ML algorithms and models using PyTorch, iterating from experiments and data-driven insights.
• Run controlled experiments to test hypotheses and collaborate with research and engineering partners.
• Write clean, reproducible research code and contribute to shared codebases.
• Publish findings to top ML venues like NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR or similar.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deploy research innovations at scale.
• Participate in code/design reviews to improve research quality and robustness.
• Build logging and evaluation pipelines to monitor model performance and detect regressions.
• Support the research community with reading groups and onboarding.
