Kadence Talent is partnering with a 400-person life sciences organization in the SF Bay Area to hire a Senior or Staff Machine Learning Research Engineer. Based in South San Francisco, this role is four days onsite and offers a base of $200k–$290k plus two annual cash bonuses. Relocation support is available. No biology background is required.

Kadence Talent is partnered with an impressive, 400-person life sciences organization in SF Bay, looking to hire a Senior or Staff Machine Learning Research Engineer.

Location: South San Francisco | 4 days onsite

Compensation: $200k–$290k base + two annual cash bonuses

I’m partnering with a well-funded life sciences R&D organization building a new frontier ML capability for scientific discovery.

This is a high-agency role for someone who can take ambitious ML ideas from prototype to large-scale training-while establishing the engineering foundations that enable researchers to move faster.

You’ll work on:

• Transformers, diffusion models, vision architectures and biological sequence models
• Highly optimized JAX or PyTorch implementations
• Distributed training, accelerators and model parallelism
• Evaluation frameworks, benchmarks and reusable research tooling
• Complex research systems and high-throughput data pipelines

We’re looking for strong mathematical and model-building depth, excellent Python engineering, and evidence of personally developing or optimizing advanced architectures.

No biology background is required. Relocation support is available.
