Job summary

Bridge Neurotech, a seed-stage neurotechnology company in Redwood City, California, invites PhD students to join a six-month internship or co-op to work on neural decoding pipelines using fUSI and AI. You will design and evaluate models for reconstruction and decoding, extend data pipelines, and collaborate with imaging scientists.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a PhD program in machine learning, computer science, electrical engineering, computational neuroscience, physics, or related field.
• Available full time for six months.
• Experience taking a model from a paper to training on real data.
• Comfort with large numerical datasets and memory‑mapped arrays.
• Strong grounding in linear algebra and signal processing.
• Good software engineering practices: version control, testing, code review.
• Self-directed and self-motivated with goal-oriented execution.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, train, and evaluate models for fUSI reconstruction, preprocessing, or decoding.
• Run experiments, test hypotheses, perform ablations, tune architectures and losses.
• Extend models to 2D/3D data regimes, new probes, or new subjects; build necessary preprocessing.
• Contribute to training and evaluation infrastructure: experiment tracking, metrics, regression checks.
• Debug numerical and performance issues, e.g., NaNs, shape bugs, GPU memory limits.
• Collaborate with imaging scientists and neuroscientists to interpret data and artifacts.
• Reproduce literature results and present findings to the team.
