Job summary

Revel IT is seeking a Data Scientist to join our enterprise analytics CoE, developing data-driven products and solutions. You will collaborate with data analysts and engineers to mine, clean, and transform data, build models, and deliver actionable insights across the organization.

You’ll report to the Director of Data Science and be willing to travel quarterly as needed, contributing to data visualization and storytelling that drives strategic decisions and value at scale.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of data analytics experience.
• Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems or equivalent.
• Proficiency in Python, R, SQL.
• Experience with ML methods like classifiers and regression.

We are seeking a passionate Data Scientist to solve data analytics problems. The Data Scientist will be part of the enterprise data analytics Center of Excellence (CoE) group focused on developing unique data driven products.

The ideal candidate will have mathematical and statistical expertise, along with natural curiosity and a creative mind. While mining, interpreting, and cleaning our data, this person will be relied on to ask questions, connect the dots, and uncover hidden opportunities for realizing the data’s full potential. As part of a team of data analysts and engineers, the data scientist will “slice and dice” data using various methods and create new visions for the future.

The successful candidate will report directly to the Director,Data Science. The position location is flexible, but the placement must be willing to travel quarterly.

Essential Duties:

Position Requirements & Competencies:

• 5+ years of data and analytics


• Bachelor’s Degree, (BA/BS) in Information Systemsor equivalent combination of education and/or experience


• Programming Skills – knowledge of statistical programming languages like R,Python, and database query languages likeSQL, Hive, Pig is desirable. Familiarity with Scala,Java, orC++is an added advantage.


• Statistics – Good applied statistical skills, including knowledge of statistical tests, distributions, regression, maximum likelihood estimators, etc. Proficiency in statistics is essential for data-driven companies.


• Machine Learning – good knowledge of machine learning methods like k-Nearest Neighbors, Naive Bayes, SVM, Decision Forests.


• Strong Math Skills (Multivariable Calculus and Linear Algebra) – understanding the fundamentals of Multivariable Calculus and Linear Algebra is important as they form the basis of a lot of predictive performance or algorithm optimization techniques.


• Data Wrangling – proficiency in handling imperfections in data is an important aspect of a data scientist job description.


• Experience with Data Visualization Tools like matplotlib, ggplot, d3.js., Power BI, or Tableau that help to visually encode data


• Excellent Communication Skills – it is incredibly important to describe findings to a technical and non-technical audience.


• Strong Software Engineering Background


• Hands-on experience with data science tools

• Analytical mind and great business sense
